Thank you for an acrylic moon tutorial I can actually follow & possibly do! Just love moon paintings but it was always where do I put those “black or white” crater spots & you simplified it & in real time!! Usually do smaller size projects & on a smaller canvas just make sure the circle is in proper perspective. Tyvm!

Thank you so much for sharing your talent! I love this technique! I wonder what I would do to make this a background to stencil over the top of. I'm thinking if I was to do this on wood, I could possibly light sand, but wonder if that would drag too much dark into the light. Canvas is an even bigger mystery to me as to keep the moon in the background. Has anyone got any suggestions? I've got a couple different ideas for stencils. "Give it to God and go to sleep", or "Love you to the moon and back". Thanks to anyone who can give me some pointers here. ☺️ Thanks again Jasmine, for this very helpful tutorial!! 💜

That’s a great question! Was doing a bit of research and if you want to paint the moon to look like it’s in the background on canvas, you can use a “watercolor wash technique”. Essentiallly thin down the acrylics with water so it’s transparent in nature once applied to canvas and dries. That’s should give you a faded look. Here’s a link sciencing.com/techniques-transparent-painting-canvas-5199657.html The idea you have about painting on wood then sanding sounds like it would too. I’ve never personally tried but in theory it should work. Hope that helps, goodluck and thank you again for the question!
