Hey guys! Do you think 2 hours per model is a reasonable amount of time to paint your kill teams? How much time do you spend on yours?
@ehabulous25 күн бұрын
I am slow painter and probably spent about 4 hours in total on a single, so 2hr/per model at this quality is wizadry!

Yeah, I felt that lately, I have painted so many detailed models that it made me way faster 😅 I wanted to see how fast I can actually go.

These look phenomenal!! I, like you prefer the more vibrant color rather than the drab green. Thanks for making this video! Love the channel!

Sat here looking at a few thousand points of built, but unpainted Death Guard, I'm feeling inspired to crack out the brushes. Awesome job!

i actually love this style and will be attempting to adapt it into my painting. the stark highlight differences without smooth blending along with the high saturation remind me of a kind of "black velvet painting" style likeness.

Not display case quality.... Lol! I humbly disagree. Those look amazing. And your video is clear and concise. Subscribed.

Absolutely excellent and so helpful, the biggest problem for me is always finding the right colours that work together. So of course your video is the right one for me. I would spend a lot more time painting my models, but in the end your models look really great because the colours and especially the gradations between the colours are just right. I'm already looking forward to the box, and as soon as it arrives I'll start painting the Nurgle Marine exactly in this style, thank you very much for this Video!

Mine are arriving next weekend and I’ve been looking for the perfect scheme. This is amazing! Can’t wait to try it out. You did a great job of explaining the process on this.

Thanks, glad to hear you found it useful. I hope you will have fun with yours when they arrive 😀

This looks amazing - and so vibrant, will definitely be trying something similar. The scheme beats my existing dusty attempts.

I started painting my DG years ago in the official scheme and official colors. But lately, I have been gravitating so much towards more vibrant colors that I couldn't do the traditional style anymore 😅

Fantastic mate! LOVE your channel. This is such a fantastic style and look at 'speedpainting' in a way some people may not have seen before. I am personally a massive fan of the visible rough nature of the strokes, personality and character shines through and they look amazing all together.

Thank you 😊 I am glad to hear that people find this interesting/useful. It is more work than slapchop for sure, but it also produces a much better end result imho.

I like dark sea blue as a starting point for steel but i brighten it up with grey then ice yellow to finish it up

These are so cool, as someone wanting to get into the hobby I hope I can make something like this! Though i know its gonna be a process
@ph3lansminiatures24 күн бұрын
Practice helps a lot both in terms of speed and quality, but as long as you are willing to put in some time and effort, there should be nothing stopping you from painting something like this 🙂 It is a super fun hobby, so give it a try 😉

Presume you are already working on it but Looking forward to the ultramarines guide for the other half of the starter box ! I’m a returning hobby painter and really appreciate your content!
@ph3lansminiatures19 күн бұрын
Hey there! Thanks a lot for the kind comment. Unfortunately I don't have the Ultramarines 😥 I was fortunate and had the Plague Marine half already from when they were sold as Space Marine Heroes but I don't actually have the kill team box. But maybe I will get my hands on it some day and paint the ultras as well 🙂

Love this style of painting. Its really striking, very painterly, and looks a LOT more fun than 3 stages of edge highlights like the box art. Will give it a try when my box arrives :)
@ph3lansminiatures25 күн бұрын
It is definitely more fun to paint this way :) The official GW method is a good start, but it is not really fun to paint like that long term. I hope you will enjoy painting your sick boys as much as I did mine!

Love the channel, always a great tutorial. Can you do a quick video on thinning paint? It’s something I’m struggling with.
@ph3lansminiatures20 күн бұрын
That is on the list of planned videos for sure, but it is a difficult one to do 😂 There is something about thinning paint that is quite hard to explain. When I figure out how to do it, I'll definitely do a video about it.

I think this stuff looks sick but Im curious, what would this look like on larger models like vehicles or mortarion? I feel like this highlighting style is much harder on them because theyre so large and its much easier to see the transitions between every paint used on them
@ph3lansminiatures24 күн бұрын
That is correct. Doing it this way would probably not look good on anything larger for the reasons you said. But the only thing you need to change is the speed. If I dedicated 4-8 hours per model I could have smoothed it out nicely. So, for something bigger I would use the same style but I would be more precise, I would use more intermediate colors and I would use some glazes to smooth things out.
@SerVanzu21 күн бұрын
@@ph3lansminiatures do you have any videos showing you to blending out on some larger model or bigger flat surface? I feel like blending transitions and smoothing out shading is one of the hardest acrylic painting techniques but Im trying to break into it
@wolf-xf6hf25 күн бұрын
I might be insane but for a kill team with 6 models I think around 8 hours per model is where I tend to like my effort
@ph3lansminiatures24 күн бұрын
To be honest that is my sweet spot as well for single models when I am not trying to go fast like this and when I am going for a 'comfortable' quality.
@madprophetus6 күн бұрын
I also tend to spend about 8 hours per mini, but painting is my after work zen activity and I’m in no rush
