Damned great video. I found this scheme way better than the Warhammer TV one, not that its bad but suits me better. Loving your channel and so useful, even for an experienced painter.

I just watched this video (a few times), and was really indecisive about what to paint my terrain with. I wanted to say, this guide was awesome being able to use contrasts so easily and then spice things up with other paints on a DAMN good base paint you came up with. Keep up the good work!

Cheers Joe - I appreciate the support - glad you liked it! I've recently released a guide on ork terrain as well that might not exactly be what you're looking for, but the techniques might help!

Great video. I have 2 sets of this terrain to paint and I started with a brown spray that matches Steel Legion Drab. I did some shading with washes. Going to dry brush the same way you did mate. Thanks.

Great tutorial. What you mind doing a video on how to thin down paints to get the right consistency, and do you use wet pallet?

Hi! Thanks for the comment! Yes I do use a wet palette and I will have that exact video out in the next week or two!

Thanks for a clear tutorial. Just finished under coating my Vertigus set so ready to go. I guess the very bottom of the pipe sections could be weathered in that way too being close to the ground. In fact, would you suggest ALL the exteriors are weathered that way to get a cohesive look?
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve - I appreciate it - yeah I've done all mine that way! Vlends them in niceley

Do you varnish this terrain after painting it? If so, do you use flat on the stone and satin/gloss on the metal?
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
I don't but if I did it would probably be matte all over If you want shiny metal then you could use satin varnish. I'd recommend trying on a spare bit of sprue to see what looks good
@davemorris78454 жыл бұрын
Great video, I will be using this technique for the walls on my Vertigus terrain set also. @The Painting Coach - On the red parts how does the finish of the bits you did in contrast and the bits you layered (Khorne red etc) compare? Is there a noticeable difference in shades or anything? I like the idea I'm just worried that if the shades are slightly off it will drive me mad.
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave - i would say pop it on some spare sprue and see how you feel - i think contrast and a highlight looks good and a little more blended perhaps - ultimately if you try it and aren'r happy you can always paint over it!
@Tatuscletus2 жыл бұрын
How the hell did you manage to apply that first step with Steel legion drab so fast??? I understand that a make up brush had more coverage, but what about the paint? How much water did it had? When I do big surfaces like that I end up with a lot of pools and bubbles. Teach me, master!
@ThePaintingCoach2 жыл бұрын
Just a really heavy dry brush and keep the paint moving :)

@@ThePaintingCoach I have an odd question about the Amazon listing for the Winsor and Newton brushes. I live in the US and can't order through the link in the description, I was wondering if you could recommend any online retailers that wouldn't charge extortionate prices for it or if you know of some other way I can get my hands on them.
@ThePaintingCoach4 жыл бұрын
I have in the past changed the .co.uk to .com and that's worked? Otherwise there is this www.amazon.com/Winsor-Newton-Kolinsky-Sable-Watercolor/dp/B0013E68SU/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=winsor%2Bnewton%2Bseries%2B7%2Bsize%2B1&qid=1597613815&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1
