I have watched thousands of videos and tutorials but never one as fabulous as this...I am sad that I will never be able to become a good enough illustrator in the first place...but to finish off with such talent with that watercolour is mind blowing..I wish I could achieve this technique....thank you so much for sharing this...it's lovely..perfect to my eyes....xxxx
@smoothie77drawingpainting8 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue, this technique isn't all that difficult, when you break it down its only several light washes of watercolour applied over a pencil drawing, it takes away a lot of the risk associated with watercolour as the pencil does most of the work, give it a go! and never say never:) Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate your comment!

Yes, very nice technique indeed. Lovely job. I like the idea of "taking away the risk associated with watercolour" Do you use pan watercolours or tube? Any difference?

Wow! You look at the drawing and think, "How could that get better?" Then you put the color over the pencil and it goes from good to great. Keep up the great work...

This is a marvellous demo. And the result is just excellent! I tell myselve to start aquarel every year but I never did so far... hehehe.. Seeing this I tell myselve to start for "one's and for all! ;) Thank you Smoothie77

Go for it Lineke!!! I just know you will be great at watercolour, you could use it as mixed media with colour pencils and pastels, with your drawing skill and watercolour you would produce some lovely results.

Another great video Smoothie. Countryside similar to where I live so really gonna give this a go. So many artists give you mountains hills cliffs and rocks - doesn't mean much when you live in the flat country. The skies are fab round here tho. Using your method have found I CAN draw - wow! What a wonderful tool the paper stump is. Thanks Smoothie - keep on blending
@smoothie77drawingpainting8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Linda, that's a great comment! it makes my day to hear people are getting results with their drawings, I agree the paper stump is wonderful tool, I would be lost without it. the country side around me is really beautiful at this time of the year, I'm in south Leicestershire, you sound like your in the Norfolk area "flat country" if you are you're in a lovely part of the world, I love Norfolk, such an inspiring place. I'll keep on blending don't you worry LOL.

Excellent video as usual, I love following along with them. We are in Keswick now Smoothie and I was so looking forward to spending loads of time and money in the Derwent Shop, but unfortunately it is still closed from the terrible storm damage it took December time by Storm Desmond :(. But they have opened a temporary very small shop at the top of town, but the opening hours are very sporadic. All the best Smoothie

another great one ! I'm going to have to try this style of painting ! a lot deferent than what I do ! lol
@smoothie77drawingpainting8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Glen, Yes give it a go, it's good to try new styles, pencil and wash is a lot easier than you might think, just don't use pencils that are too soft or they send the washes muddy, try and keep below a 4B and you should be ok, I normally keep to an HB-2B.

thanks I will try this soon !

Hello there :) Really nice demo again! Finally I was brave enough: I am actually coloring my graphite drawing of two birds with water color. Quite excited how it turns out :) Thank you, your videos inspired me a lot!

smoothie77 Yes, I will upload it. I do have many more videos saved on my computer. I don´t find the time for video editing. Many budgie drawings will come and one of an icelandic horse!
@smoothie77drawingpainting8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I really look forward to watching them:) did you have any problem with graphite mixing with the paint?
@BuntstiftKunst8 жыл бұрын
Not at all so far. Theres is no lifting of the graphite. At least I do not recognize it. Its more the lack of control I am struggling with ;) But for my first attampt I think I will be satisfied! I can upload a photo on google plus if you wish, thats a bit faster :)

You mention wetting the paper helps set the graphite. Does that mean you didn't seal the pencils at all before you started on watercolor? I would expect the graphite to smudge everywhere.

Hey Smoothie do you make your living doing art, or is this just a hobby? Just curious. I always wonder if there are folks out there that are making their living this way.

Hi, I’ve just started watercolour, I’m 68 and have just discovered I can draw quite well, my wife is an artist and I’m a musician. We live on the North Norfolk coast about 5 mile from Cley windmill, that’s how I found you, looking for watercolours of the mill to try and copy! I notice with your pateron site it is in dollars , what happens if I want to join in £ , obviously I know you will use an exchange rate but just wondering how that works. Thanks for your fantastic videos and inspiration. Keith
@smoothie77drawingpainting5 жыл бұрын
Hi Keith, the $4 patreon fee is automatically converted when you join, you just pledge $4 and you only pay whatever the exchange rate is at the time, I have members from all over the world that all pay in $ the currency is converted from there own currency,
