Joni, love you!!! I started learning acrylics with q tips, steel wool, sponges, etc. Those were hot messes. Then, I picked up a brush and I am still learning and obsessed with painting!! I am going to do this one so that I can more skillfully incorporate all techniques I have learned, Love it!!!

This is really quite beautiful. I have a blank canvas this size right now! As I watched this come together I thought about turning canvas vertically, using very deep dioxide purples quin magenta & whites,doing the female on top w the body of q-tip flowers cascading down her Mermaids Tail....her arm just breaching the water's surface...letting in light. Anyways. Just envisioning. Thanks for the inspiration!

Hi Joni. This is so beautiful! I’m trying to paint this one today. It looks so easy when you do it, but it’s a whole different story when I’m painting haha. I’m a beginner so hopefully some day it will get easier 😅. I have a question: with a background like this, how would you fix it when you make mistakes in the foreground. It’s really hard to get the same big stripes in the background again

I had to do just that, I made a mistake or two.. 😉 then simply brushed over again with more white than black and dried it off, started again. Use a small brush if you like and remember to add a bit of water to your brush. Hope this helps
