Metallic schemes are fun. They're so striking and visually interesting to look at. Love how matte this one, even though he's all metallic. He doesn't come across as too crunchy and weathered though. Strikes a happy medium between shine and matte meaning an army of them won't overwhelm your eyes with stuff going on.

This looks lovely! Would you make another tutorial for the non metallic version? I’d really love to see that! Or any idea on how to approach the red without it looking like blood angels and without desaturating the reds too much with black?

@@cultofpaint awesome! I came here to ask the same. When you do that, do you think you could approach how to freehand some of the runework and other text on them? Decals are great but I have a *lot* of troops and some of my conversions don't leave particularly large flat areas for decals. Always glad to see Word Bearers content, thanks again!

For my 40k Word bearers, I used Word bearer red (original I know) But after using that color, I really love it. its darker and won't be mistaken for blood angel or khorne red

@@zogwort1522 I never had a bottle of Mechrite red (which I think you're refering to) And I would say they're similar, but mechrite seems closer to the current khorne red. Word bearer red is a little darker and kinda muted red.

Hello, i love your video and even buy the mig satin varnish, but when applied the water can reactivate him, do you thin this varnish with something special ?
@cultofpaint2 жыл бұрын
I don’t thin it. I find it sprays well at my normal pressure without dilution.
@FloorSweepersUnion2 жыл бұрын
I had this trouble too! I think if the satin is too thin it reactivates it as it’s water based, I’m going to try it straight in future

Love this! What would you recommend for a vibrant colour finish over a metallic base - a Contrast paint or Tamiya clear? I’ve seen you use both but wondering which you’d say works best. Thanks!!!
@cultofpaint2 жыл бұрын
Contrast gives you more of a coloured metallic look. Whereas clears give you that deeper candy effect

@@cultofpaint thanks mate. Which one would you say you prefer then? I am having a hard time to pick the best route forward as I like the look of both but probably easier to weather and apply damage to contrasts?

I was looking forward to this one, for quite some time. Its disappointing that it was another Tamaya paints promo, rather than a useful tutorial for someone who is trying to quickly (and un-complicated-ly) get an army on the table. I can definitely get a faster, better looking result without the Tamaya process shown here.
