Nobody is gunna point out that the butterfinger was best by jul 13 2024. Hello, warhammer refugee here. I am getting my first minis tomorrow (thanks christmas giftcards) and I have always been really scared to paint my warhammer models. (ive done it, but for some reason the idea that i put so much time and effort into building this thing just to probably f it up painting because im new really messed with me). I feel less this way with battletech because they are mechs... they also only cost 30$. This video was dope. Big thumbs up and new sub :)

For the same reason I find that I am less judgemental about my own Battletech Color schemes, whereas with warhammer they have to be perfect for what I paid for them. Welcome, I am also a warhammer refugee.

Sometimes you get bad and good batches. It's possible you just got a different thinner and flow improver to pigment ratio.

@SickFigsMinis yeah, it's like 3 years old so maybe they changed it. I kinda want to stick it to a drill and make *sure* it's properly mixed (and put a few nail polish bearings in there for good measure) before I really give up on it. I just remember it coming out super pink, but I'd never painted it over a white base coat.

Use cork stoppers and blu tak to improvise mini handles/holders, instead of gluing miniatures to wooden cubes. Your hands will thanks you and you will not potentially damage the base when removing the miniature from the "holder"

I actually have a painting handle I usually use that I got free in an issue of a magazine. I just didn't use it because it wasn't part of the budget for this video.

For those in the comments who are looking at getting paints, I highly recommend Vallejo and ProAcryl paints. They both flow nicely, and are well priced for how much paint you get.

Additionally if you're interested in this kinda thing, there was a Strike at Vallejo over work conditions and pay. The workers got their end of the deal fulfilled here thankfully, you might expect prices to slightly increase in the future as a result though.

@@AlexDenton0451 Yea unfortunately with the rollout of Army Painter's "Fanatic" range, the new Army Painters that most stores stock are actually MORE expensive than Vallejos now as well.

@@AlexDenton0451 I've used them. They range from leaps and bounds better than the originals to no better or worse, but no loss in quality at all. However my gripe is that very few of them actually color match their original counterparts and that's frustrating if you just want to keep using the paints you have but can't find any more.

as these are pieces for a war game, you have successfully painted two pieces for a Chinese checkers board. how about a camo pattern, detailing the components, logos and or decals... it feels like you completed step one, but stopped and didn't complete steps 2 thru 8.

I can imagine that's because this is a video for painting a "first" miniature. There are other videos in the channel that show patterns and details.

It's like @k1ngdeth said, this is a first miniature tutorial intended for new players with a limited budget established in the last video. There were neither funds nor the intention to afford time to detailing when the basics needed to be established under the assumption this is someone's first painting project.
