Thank you so much for this mini-series how to, really appreciate the insights and inspiration/motivation to get my ass into gear. I'm at the frustrated early stages, still in awe of how you guys make it look so effortless, but only practice on my end will fix it. Look after yourself sir, cheers 👍

If you dont have a patreon you should consider it. I know I'm not alone when I say that the education you're supplying deserves some compensation. And your voice sounds a little like one of my favorite funny men. The late Norm Macdonald! Others teach similar lessons on you tube but you do the best job in my opinion. Thank you.

I know u been doing this a long time..but… if you use something like a wooden bbq skewer, laying it across the cup of ur spirits when u pour, the mineral spirits will run neatly down it, and won’t run down the cup, we use when pouring essential oils cuz they’re too expensive to spill a drop.

I paint a lot of wood signs and some times, the wood grain (even though sanded) can cause the surface to be bumpy. If the finished piece is supposed to look rustic and have its natural wood appeal on it still, how do you get smooth letters over the wood grain texture?
@gnarchar
@gnarchar 3 жыл бұрын
Hey max! I really appreciate all of your insight. I’ve been painting signs on wood for a while and I always struggle with clean up. My letters will be done and look good but I’ll end up ruining the sign trying to retouch the background or fix a drop shadow. Is there any tips you have? I feel like the type of paints I’m using as my back drop may play a role - but they’re just standard spray paints from the hardware store.
@maxkilbourne3142
@maxkilbourne3142 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not all sure just what is happening there. Explain better, or even send a photo! You spray paint a piece of wood... you use one shot... what can go wrong??? Ruin the sign how? And why do you need to retouch the background? I am curious now!!!

@@maxkilbourne3142 typically from pencil marks that smudge when erased, or a drop of paint. However I did recently learn that the paint thinner can help me quickly wipe away fresh mistakes! Just scared of it smearing my lettering.
@maxkilbourne3142

Excellent. I use a rag or paper towel wrapped tight around my fingertip and go as close to letter with my fingernail as I can.. but if I do touch the letter, I just touch it up with my still wet brush. Does that help.

Again since you started with a stencil you could have done a white fill in, then airbrush ,then untape with no blue past the edges of the white . Would have been way ahead , work smarter ,not harder
