I just cleaned the countertops in my pending kitchen (new construction) home and realized there are faint maroon and black dots in the granite …it looks similar to your counter top…and I am not happy…there are also green stains on each side of where they glued a seam together…and it’s bad. So because I don’t like the color I am looking to paint….and see if your method works.

Hello! I just want to make sure this process is NOT the same as using epoxy? I want to change my grey countertops to black instead. Can this method be used on anything other than granite or no? Thanks for answering and it looks GREAT!😊

That is correct, a water-based polyurethane is not the same as using epoxy. Epoxy would be much tougher. And yes, you can use this method on any surface as long as you do the proper prep. Thanks!

Since my initial question, I’ve found out my countertops are indeed granite and I’ve been asking Home Depot and similar places if they can be painted instead of replacing them entirely with new countertops and the answer is always “no.” May I ask how your countertops are they holding up and how long has it been since the transformation? I really want to do this!

Since 1 year has went buy...how has the paint on the granite held up?

We are happy with how it has held up. There are a few minor surface scratches but nothing that is very noticeable and I'm pretty sure they occurred early on (within the first 30 days). It is almost impossible to not use the countertops for that long during the curing time.
