How to pair a Bluetooth Remote with Sony A7IV

That's awesome, I thought there was an issue with my dji rs3 because the record button wouldn't work on the gimbal, but I just didn't do that 2nd step after pairing and works great now!

Thanks for the video. I have question on continuous shooting mode. Normally when shooting without remote, we'll have to long press the button until finish shooting. With this bluetooth remote, can we press just once and let the camera keep shooting, and press again to stop? Thanks!

Just paired mine. It wasn’t quite as easy as I hoped but finally got it. The part you had to skip because yours was already paired is what I needed. Thank you. Do you know if when the battery needs changing if it has to be re-paired again?

Also, haven’t read directions because I hate reading instructions, do you know if this remote has a 2 second delay? If not I’m gonna miss that.

I don’t think changing the batteries will affect it needing to be paired again. I don’t believe that the remote has a two second delay.

Great video! I got mine to work but there is a serious bug: I find that when I turn off the camera, and then turn the camera, the camera stays turned off. I have to either unpair prior to turning off camera, or, take out battery and put it back in, in order to get the camera to turn off and on normally. Have any of you had this problem? Thank you.

I have not ran into this problem, but I have ran into other problems, I think it has to do with the camera for sure. Overheating issues when recording video is common.

Bought this jjc remote. It pairs well but… sometimes it works, sometimes not.. Even if the a7iv sees it as paired. And after you have pushed some buttons.. It starts working again.. Not very reliable. Have to find a better one. Does any one tried the original Sony one ?!

The RS3 does not let you toggle AF/MF like a remote with a C1 button does. pretty important feature if you ask me. Imagine your subject goes behind a wall but you dont want the AF to focus on the wall, but instead have it stay on the subject when they return on the other side. Hit the C1 which is set to AF/MF toggle right as you move behind the wall. then hit it again as you exit.

A74 compatibility :( Be aware that the first version of the JJC BTR-S1 does not list or work with the A74, tested and confirmed! My Aussie ebay supplier, got the latest from the JJC rep for me. V2 of the BTR-S1 is expected in AU Nov-Dec 2022. The JJC site lists the A74, but that is for the V2 remote, which the site doesn't spell out. Also check out the previous last comment about the remote (Version?) disconnects after 10 seconds. That's bad and concerns me about wasting money on another remote that may be useless to me for the A74 :(

The shitty thing about this product that nobody will tell you is that it disconnects after 10 seconds, and then you have to press a button to connect it again which takes a second, and then you have to press the button again to register.. No big deal you think. Well if you use the C1 for focus AF/MF switch its a pretty big deal whether it switches now or a second later. And ontop of that you either constantly count to 10 to know if its active or not, or you are guessing whether you need to double tap it or not. FORTYNATELY, it stays connected while you record, but often times you would decide whether to toggle AF or MF before you record, depending whether you start the shot from behind a wall or something that obscructs your main point of interest. The original remote does not have that quirk.

Yeah this remote is already showing problems, sometimes it’s unusable. I need to get a better remote. It works great at first, then I don’t know what happened!

​@@AntsDrone I commented on this thread about V2 of the JJC BTR-S1 coming out, which must be what you have if yours links to an A74. I need a remote I can turn on that simply stays linked without any issues once it's turned on. Same problem using the phone app, it just keeps disconnecting everytime the screen goes off or accidentally swiped. Have you tried any other remote for the A74? Reliability?

@@rykhen1459 I just got a JJC BTR-S1, and it won't pair with my a7iv. Did you get the new version of the jjc remote? Is it still labeled BTR-S1 on the back of the remote? Did it pair with your a7iv? If so, have you found it to be reliable? (as this thread has reports of it being unreliable, disconnecting after 10sec etc... ) Appreciate any insight please, I can't find a reliable thread on this subject anywhere :(

​@@donbinkins4922 Apparently version 2 of this is just coming out now. My local Aussie suplier is expecting the new version Nov-Dec 2022. Same part number though. It may have a V2 at the end and it should list the A74. But I bought mine based on the JJC site listing the A74, no mention of Version-2 of the BTR-S1 on the site though. I assumed that the box and listing details had simply not been updated, my bad, you know what they say about ass-umptions ;)

If you have a smart tv in the room your in, make sure its off!! The TV will interfere with the pairing

For Sony users who engrave photos in bulb modes, this remote control is of no use, as you cannot see the time on your camera's screen

Absolutely useless remote. Loses pairing every time it's used. Really cheap plastic, the shutter is really temperamental and doesn't register every time the shutter is pressed
