I'm going to use this, thank you for this. WARNING tho, Palworld barely runs on 8gb of ram. It crashes more and more as you progress thru the game. I know it sounds crazy but I think you might want to use 16gb.

Yeah It does seem very inconsistent. I have had my server running since release and it crashes very occasionally on 8gb, if you can afford to go higher I would recommend to.

Was a super helpful video! I was able to get my server set up with the $40 option to host 4 players pretty comfortably. The game will crash occasionally, but I think it's cause it's running out of ram. I did a different method of auto restarted by creating a service. My server crashed once, since then I haven't been able to ssh in with my terminal. The connection just times out, however I can use the web ssh. Any tips on how to fix that?

Much appreciated! I got my test instance up and running. I experienced frequent disconnections, but I suspect they were due to the 2GB free tier I was using. I'm planning to switch to a paid instance tomorrow, and I hope that will resolve the issue.

Same, tested out the free tier option and it would disconnect within a few minutes. I setup with the next tier up at 4GB memory and it was working well with 2 people on the server.

Any advice or command prompts to log back into putty and reboot manually? My auto restarter seems to not work.

Make sure you're signed is as account you installed steamCMD under. In my case, the account was called steam. Make sure you are sudo before this. "sudo -s" To log into the account type "sudo -u steam -s", then "cd /home". Now paste this: "/usr/games/steamcmd +login anonymous +app_update 2394010 validate +quit". That will update your server. Note, make sure the server is down to prevent any issues. Hope this helps!

Thank you for making this awesome video, it works like magic! But I'm having troubles with trying to upgrade my lightsail instance to a largerone. I created a snapshot of the current instance and use the snapshot to create a larger instance, the new one has the same files on disk and the linux users, but when I start the new server, I cannot log into the game. I'm not sure if the Palworld world_id is 1to1 matched to a lightsail instance id. Do you have any suggestions？

My bad, it should be working if the new instance was created by cloning the image of the old instance. I forgot the have the port 8211 ready in the new instance.

how do you stop the server with the restarter on

Use ctrl +c you may have to press the key bind multiple times due to the restarter auto starting the server. If you press it multiple times and quickly it will stop

Great Video, do you think it is possible to host a server via an EC2 instance? Or is lightsail the better option?

Yeah you could do EC2, pretty much the same process. Just make sure to add the ports to the firewall.

I believe your issue was caused by pressing ctrl + c only once and the server would restart due to the autorestart script. Just press ctrl + c multiple times you should be able to shut it down then.
