Try this: align mirrors, turn your wheel right 1 round, reverse until your right mirror matched front car’s rear left signal light, turn wheel all the way to the left and reverse. Finish.

How do you tell when you are in the 10 o'clock position... any reference points to help?

Once I start my car, my hands are automatically in the 10 o'clock (left hand), and 2 o'clock (right hand) position. Looking straight ahead, I use my head to reference the 12 o'clock position. Remembering these three basic logistics will truly simplify any maneuver for you. At the end of the day, driving should be fun. If you need to practice, just go to a parking lot that isn't too busy, and practice using the lines drawn on the asphalt. I hope you find that this suggestion is helpful. 🤗

Actually, buying a clock is an excellent suggestion. Especially, since you included one with a proper face on it. These days, most clocks on the market are digital, and if her watch is too, one can appreciate why she's asking for "reference points".
