Parenting is one of the best and hardest experiences in life. Our powerful love for our children can feel scary at times. Scary because it means we’re vulnerable. It doesn’t take long to discover that we have little control over these precious ones who hold our hearts.
For the Christian parent, there’s the added passion to bring them to faith in Christ. To see them share our beliefs. We want them to follow in our path and love God, love His truth recorded in the Bible, and to seek to live by its principles. We want them to have the best God has to offer.
When children begin to make choices that don’t line up with your beliefs, that’s painful and sometimes devastating. For some, those choices may just be a difference of opinions about non-essential issues. But many parents have a child who takes a path opposite to their family values, and in some cases, they become what we call a “prodigal.”

Hello, I am a sex addict, a cheater and not a good human being. It was almost a spiritual experience that I have realized who I truly am.I need help. I have gotten out of my relationship and won’t get into another one unless I change and stop lying and being selfish.. I have looked online and it says “serial cheaters can’t change” and that I literally have character flaws. I don’t want to be this way. I want to be a loving ,loyal, honest husband who can be faithful and have integrity. I am going to a 12 step plan. Is there any hope in my life that I can change and be a good man? Is there any good in me? I have been suicidal, and broken. I’m scared I can’t change. I have been praying for any hope at all. Thanks for reading of you did.

Yes you can change. My suggestion is to stop focusing on your behavior and look at why you are doing it. The journey to understanding the why will most likely require a good therapist. Look for one who has experience with EDMR. EDMR is a technique that helps you recall past trauma (most likely childhood) and allows you to process the emotion so you can heal. The behavior is just a means for medicating feelings we don't want to feel. In your case it's the endorphin hit you get when you act out. Drugs and alcohol are other methods addicts use to escape feelings. The problem with doctors today is they only treat the behavior (medicating) and not the root cause. Typically with other medications. I would also suggest you get into a men's recovery group. Take a look at Soulrefiner.com and get signed up for the Conquer series. You have already taken the first step to recovery. You have asked for help and want to stop. You can do it.
