How to PARK the Ferrari 458 Italia

Most cars have a park button or some way to select park when you are parking the car, but the Ferrari 458 Italia does not have any way to just select Park. Unlike the previous flappy paddle transmissions in Ferrari which were treated just like a manual gearbox, the 458 is somewhat a hybrid between behaving like a manual and automatic transmission.

Today ive went with my 458 get some food with my girl and we stop in a street clim as hell, kind of shame but i couldn’t actually leave the car with engine on(we just went pick up some food), ive tried to leave the car running but even in neutral and with the park light on the car wasn’t able to hold it self, it keeps going down, i had to ask her to go pick it up while im stood in the car, gonna try turning off the keys next time!! My italia is a 2012 with 10k miles

youre gonna need netrual when your brakes is super hot. if u use parkingbrake when its hot (after hard braking), the brakepad will bind to your rotor and its gona damage it.

wow its that easy to park it. i was driving a ferrari california and couldnt figure out how to put it in park. i ended up pulling both paddles and put the car in N and put on the handbrake and turned it off. i thought i was a genius for figuring it out. turns out u can just leave in !st gear and shut the car off .... LOL

That always drove me nuts when I had the 458 Italia. What actually drove me even more nuts are the turn signals. Why do they have to have two buttons on opposite sides of the steering wheel? Cannot tell you how many times I would forget to turn it off and of course the steering wheel obstructed my view of the arrows, so I had to stretch my neck and take my eyes off the road to see if I had the signal on. If I pushed the switch it would turn the signal on if it was off. When I would follow my friend in his 458 I would call him to tell him his signal was on. For comparison the Huracan has a signal switch on one side of the steering wheel and when you push the switch in the signal is disengaged. So if one is not sure if the signal is on, just push it in. Much easier. I just subscribed to your channel so I am not sure if you may already have done a video on this. Thanks for sharing.

That definitely would've thrown me.. would've been looking around for the "P". For the brake, Maserati does that as well, but I've read where folks have had issues and recommend using the lever to disengage rather than just going in drive/reverse. Also.. really, really wish Maserati had the ability to go into Neutral with the paddles.. feel like a dork moving the shift knob to neutral when trying to rev.

Thee things I noticed as a new owner from this video. 1) Seems like your CEL takes a while to go out too. Mine stays on for a few seconds and then goes out. 2) I read most of the manual, but I had my first fill up last week and was surprised to find no gas cap. Neat little mechanism in there that enables the nozzle to open the tank. 3) And to the point of your video, you're right, it's not super obvious when you're sitting there in 1st or R and want to go to park. Also sitting in traffic in neutral, better put your foot on the brake if you want to shift into 1st gear. Otherwise you're going nowhere.

All Ferraris have the CEL on when you first start it while it runs some checks. It typically stays on for about 10-20 seconds.

Thank you so much for this video! my friend tried to give me a 5 minute lesson and he still held the car in place as I took my foot off the brake in neutral it rolled backwards even after he told me to not let that happen it was very unnatural. 😅 Now I'm off to search for a demonstration of the PS button, And how to program the garage door button in the mirror.

That’s just like my M5 DCT. You leave it in neutral and handbrake on and shut off the rolling message would show. But if you shut the car off in drive it would automatically go to park. Makes sense though since both Ferrari and BMWs M DCTs are all made by Getrag (Magna PT)

By the way I try many times in the settings I put (on) still the same.. I Check it out by my obd2 scanner where there an option for led test and its works... Ask Shell to tell us how water gets in the gas tank, how much water is actually there, is there an in- water filter to filter the water out of the gas, what happens to the water when we fill the tank, is thee a recommendation as to the lowest level we should allow the gas to go, how long can their gas sit before it starts to turn to varnish(?), does it turn slower than competitors, what exactly does Gunk look like if you were to scrape it from the piston head or (?), explain where corrosion comes from, how does the gas remove corrosion (I can use that in my Mercury Verados on my boat in Ft. Lauderdale), is there a simple test where I can put a little of their gas and compare it against another gas and what do I look for, if an engine goes bump or runs rough, does their gas smooth the engine rpm's and LASTLY, how many of the Ferrari's in your CLUB use or swear by Shell? Can you imagine the publicity Shell would get is you could get 100% of your Club using shell? Oh yes, is it good for older Ferrari's as well? I stopped by the largest Ferrari dealer this morning (they are closed) and saw some 458's. Sorry I did not buy one 2 years ago when I went in there instead of the Porsche 911 Cabriolet, but there is still time...LOL. I now use Shell because of you. Oh yes, how much money (estimate) will I save in Repairs now that I use Shell? People used to ask me that when I invented Cleaning Cards for Credit Card Readers... I know it's not a Ferrari, but I work at an Audi dealer and the first time that a first gen R8 came through, I had no clue how to put it in park but I eventually figured out after a couple minutes that you have to put it in neutral, turn the car off, pull the handbrake and then it puts itself into park (I can't exactly remember if that was the procedure but it was something weird like that at least, it was a while ago)

Ferrari has a $5000 per year warranty which I believes covers everything but I don't know how old the car can be before they do not offer it. Is it better to buy a car that you can pay the $5000 or not pay the $5000 and hope you do not need any repairs (a spider could have a major problem if the top stops working). Any options that you would say are a MUST have??

I have to be completely honest..... I don't like "Auto" modes in my vehicles. What you are describing would drive me completely batty. I guess I am too OCD for a modern Ferrari. Give me the old manual key, manual trans, with complete manual control over the vehicle and I would be a happy camper.
