The 458 Infotainment system is an interesting beast…great in theory but seriously flawed in implementation due to being totally ruined by a shockingly designed interface of multi-function buttons, scroll knob/joystick and volume/mute knob.
Here I walk through the 4 key approaches to playing music through the 458 music system concluding in the best and easiest approach to adopt.

I finally got a chance to install the IPOD cable and Invery unit in my 458 spider. I can report back that it works great with my Android S10e phone. It has reconnected to my phone automatically every time I've been in the car since for a couple weeks now. It displays everything on the right screen and its awesome that I can use the steering wheel controls to change tracks, pause, volume, etc when streaming Iheart Radio or Streaming Sirius XM from my phone.

Great video Rich. I connect my iPhone via a 30 pin to lightening adapter + extension cable, then put the phone in a cradle. That way I get to use Waze on the phone and can stream music through the iPod source, and it charges too (albeit very slowly, barely maintains battery level when using Waze). Reliable too.

Thank you. That’s an interesting approach, doesn’t the cable cause you problems? Also, would t it be easier to just turn on your ignition and have music play without having to physically connect your phone? 😀

Brilliant. Thanks. The most illogical media system you could imagine to find. I've ended up putting a load of music onto the hard drive and it just plays all the time and i simply turn the volume up and down as i want to listen.

In that video I also discuss streaming using the Invery airdual unit which is by far the best solution as long as you have the 32pin iPod cable in the glove box.

Hello, I have two questions. If the 458 that I’m driving doesn’t have the 30Pin connector option, can I plug a regular 30Pin connector into the USB Port & then use an extension port for my iPhone? My second question is would it work if i did the same as the above question but inside of the 30Pin extension port, I should buy the Invery AirDual100? Would both options work? thank you!

Unfortunately no, the USB connector is for playing/uploading music to the hard drive of the music system.

No problem. Will be interesting to know if the device fully supports Android. I can’t see there being an issue due to the Bluetooth comms interface being system agnostic.

If I parked my car do I have to unplug the invery device to protect my battery?

No just leave the device connected all the time but you should always make sure your car is connected to the battery conditioner when not being driven.

hi Rich, thank you for making it easy, just one question, i have a 2010 model year, do you know if the invery works in a 2010? Cause the only comment online of a 2010 owner I found said it didn't work, maybe its was just a unfortunate case, so i'm asking you who surely are more informed than me, thank you in advance !!!!

Yes, as long as you have the 30 pin iPod lead in the glove box. The person that had issues may have been using an inferior Bovee...The Invery Airdual is more reliable.

The Invery device does not have a battery due to being powered by the car via the 32pin connector therefore does not need to be charged.

I purchased the Airdual 100 and I found out that the sound quality is drastically different from the radio quality, is the audio worse for you also when you play music off of your phone compared to regular radio stations?

That’s interesting. The audio quality is the same, playing through radio or Bluetooth via phone for us.

@@RichReviews_ I figured it out, it actually had to do with my iPod wire as it was a little bit bent. Once I bent it back, the audio sounded much better.

Yep. Shame really as most/all 458s have the multi-changer yet I know of none that get used.
