As someone who signed up for the CFE review course offered by Gevorg, I cannot stress enough to anyone reading this that you NEED to use this resource. Gevorg breaks down the entire CFE process in bite size pieces and makes the information super understandable. Things I never understood in my years in the PEP program were answered in this one section of this course. Anyone who is writing the CFE and they are not fully clear about how CPA marks your exams, you should consider this course. Thanks Gevorg, your videos are super helpful

Update - CPA Canada took the prudent approach and went with the hotel room setting for the Sep 2021 CFE. This is good news, you'll get the quiet and privacy of your room to focus on the exam.

Hi could you elaborate more on how split screen on windows could be used effectively,Could you have a video on this? Also would be great if you can show effective way of outlining, accumulating numerous case facts in paper /computer plan..Really need to visually learn from the expert how to navigate well with extraneous information provided in time constrained environment

Hey Neha, all those tips - screen splitting , outlining, case writing, time management - are taught in my course. I visually show how to computer vs paper outline, navigate case facts, manage time, efficient case writing, memory aids etc.. prep.gevorgcpa.com/

If you talked about a financial constraint but then at the end accidentally go $$$ over in your recommendations but also still talk about the constraint . Can you still pass ?
@GevorgCPA
@GevorgCPA 2 жыл бұрын
You would violate the constraint, but should be passable as long as other areas are good (ie, quant, qual, op issues).

In your professional opinion, because my mentor who marks cases every year says it doesn’t automatically fail you, but if you get an NA on a Day 3 AO because it was indirect .. do you automatically lose ability to get depth in FR? This one was related to PPE and they really talked about componetization and depreciation methods so I used that as my FR issue… didn’t realize impairment could exist too. So I really am curious if I’m toast no matter how good I feel on the other 7 FR AOs?
@TheNumber1EdgeHead
@TheNumber1EdgeHead 3 жыл бұрын
I know this is a tough question to answer but I would really appreciate your opinion. My anxiety is at an all time high thinking that the one NA (if they make it a separate AO from the other PPE one) would automatically fail me.
@GevorgCPA
@GevorgCPA 3 жыл бұрын
How did you do on Day 2 FRs? You need about 3-5 Cs on FR OR MA to pass (changes based on average performance). One NA is not the end :)
@TheNumber1EdgeHead
@TheNumber1EdgeHead 3 жыл бұрын
@@GevorgCPA well it may have actually been combined with another AO. Not sure if you have heard but it was related to the PPE and so many think the two issues would be combined under 1 AO. So likely could be an RC. But I’m thinking there’s 7-8 AOs for FR and I think I got 3-4 Cs. Just because I missed some small things like a criteria or something on some that I think would hold me to an RC on some others. But I guess I never really will know how they’ll mark or the criteria they’ll use. But I’m definitely worried that it costed me. But who knows
@TheNumber1EdgeHead
@TheNumber1EdgeHead 3 жыл бұрын
@@GevorgCPA because I guess it might be easier to get a C on day 3 AOs too? Not sure. But thank you for your opinion I guess now all I can do is pray and hope me missing some small aspects doesn’t prevent a C. But based on feedback guides from capstone 2, hard to see it not doing that. But then I know they mark different on CFE. So much in the air.
@GevorgCPA
@GevorgCPA 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheNumber1EdgeHead I think you'll get RC for that one. Nothing much you can do, just debrief in your notebook per AO and wait for the results. We'll get the exam cases soon.

Hi , Thanks for this video. It was really helpful. I have a question which is my biggest concern - Im appearing for CFE Sept 2021. I failed at level 3 assurance in my Sept 2020 only. Any tips to get depth in FR & MA in less time on Day 2 as I spend more time there and then rush through audit. If I cut off, it might be possible that some AOs of FR might be left in between. Usually 1 AO of FR is uncommon so should attend that at the end and spend less time on that? I attended all AOs in my last attempt. Please advise. Thanks
@GevorgCPA
@GevorgCPA 3 жыл бұрын
Avoid time traps, those long AOs that come up at start, and allocate equal time for FR/MA and your role. You may try the strategy of working on FR first > then Role > then MA last.

Gevorg, I am writing in September and I wanted clarification to something you said. You said for studying, focus on FR, MA and your role which for me is AS. So are you saying for things like personal tax issues or business valuations, I shouldn’t be studying it but morealess reviewing it to be able to scratch the surface? Because like you said there’s so much content you can’t study it all but I don’t think you meant to say don’t review your TX, FI and SG?
@GevorgCPA
@GevorgCPA 3 жыл бұрын
You got it, the key areas are FR / MA / Role, but you should still review the other topics. The other areas are not your "focus", but you need good technical grasp (RC level) on other competencies. A great resource to know what other topics to study is looking at past Day 3s. You'll notice valuation, personal/corp tax, WIR, procedures etc. are commonly tested topics. I also have a video where I give historical info of past Day 3 topics: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpLJm4Z4iZWKl8U&

Hello Gevorg.. My firm provides tutor for CFE but I like what I heard from your video and would like to get some materials especially the data analytics and WDI additional case.. what program will be best suitable for me?
@GevorgCPA

Hi Joy, you can purchase my WDI case separately, the link is below. The DAIS is available only as part of my program, I suggest signing up for one of my courses. If you need support with Day 1 specifically, I suggest the Day 1 review course (with or without marking), and you'll get the WDI case and DAIS drill. Day 1 course: prep.gevorgcpa.com/courses/marked-cpa-cfe-review-day1 WDI case only: gevorgcpa.com/cases/

Thanks @Gevorg I found your style of tips very smart and to the point. I am Indian CA with 8 years audit background and 2 years in Industry. I have enrolled for CFE Sep 21 and finished first read of technicals a week back. I have been practicing Day 3 cases but been struggling with time especially in FR as not used to open book exam. I tried Day 1 case (getting marked thru prep school) and although I am following outline approach, I go clueless when trying to map it to SA. - either too much qual information or confusion on which tools to use and sometimes ignore qual data later to realise. I am getting 2 weeks off before exam but I am thinking to withdraw as i dont want to shoot in exam without preparation without practice. Do you think its worth appearing still with last two weeks stretch? I am yet to practice Day 2 case. Appreciate your response and sorry for lenghthy question.

It's normal to feel nervous and demotivated during the prep process, but that feeling should disappear as you write more cases, debrief and realize that you're learning. If you're yet to write D2 cases, you're a bit behind. Most started their study leave a few weeks ago, so you have a lot of ground to cover. Let's have a quick call to see how ready you are and I'll recommend from there. Just shoot me an email: gevorg@gevorgcpa.com, and mention you commented on my YT video.

Never too early to start. If you're an international accountant, it will take 4-5 months to prepare (300-400 hours), because you have to catch up on core topics.
