I passed MEPS back in 1975 - but I shouldn't have. I failed the eye test with my left eye. I've been legally blind in that eye since birth. So, I scored a 20/200 (instead of 20/20). I asked another doctor later if that means I officially failed MEPS. Because, if I did, then I was leaving. Why take the rest of the physical if I already failed? Anyway, without encouragement from me, he took his pen and scratched out the 20/200 and re-wrote 20/20. With a grin on his face he sent me to the next station. Well, when I got to Lackland, one of the things they do is check your eyes for glasses. The eye doc couldn't figure out how I got 20/20 at MEPS and now I'm getting 20/200 at Lackland. He just shrugged and finished the eye tests. I never heard any more about it.

I just came back from MEPS today, honestly I was overthinking it. The only thing that sucked was the waiting. I would highly suggest getting enough sleep! I would also bring a sweater because I didn’t and it was freezing during the morning and in the ASVAB room. Be respectful to everyone there and ask questions if you don’t understand something. Also make sure you have all your documents that your recruiter asked you to bring and you’ll be set. Something I didn’t see anyone mention is how in MEPS they will guide you and provide instructions as to where to go next after each station. It’s very simple as long as you’re following instructions. Also once you’re on the medical section and it’s your turn to give out blood, when they ask you if you’re afraid of needles or you get dizzy when seeing blood, make sure you answer honestly! They won’t disqualify you for being afraid but they will if you faint and hit your head or an accident happens due to fainting. Make sure that whenever you’re in an interview you say exactly what’s on your documents since they only know what you provide. Also the part where they see your private areas isn’t a big deal at all, they see you for less than 2 seconds and for me personally it went by extremely fast. If you have any questions ask to me in the replies and I’ll answer to the best of my knowledge and personal experience! Also awesome video Ben! Really helped ❤️

I got out of MEPS 3 days ago, it was honestly not bad at all. Worst parts: long waiting time, and Shitty food. Misconceptions IMO: they didn’t try to “get any information” out of me, they just asked relatively the same questions as the recruiter. I’m going to the hotel right now, but I’m doing the physical tomorrow. The only thing I didn’t list down to my recruiter is that I have slightly bad hearing in the left ear. My right ear is perfect. It’s like left-65% right-100%. Is the hearing test hard? And can you make it through with partial hearing loss? I’ll edit this comment in a few days when I finish the physical. Edit: I have officially completed my MEPS physical exam and what can I tell you other than I passed everything. If you’re so concerned about your vision or hearing don’t be.. unless you’re extremely blind or straight up deaf. You’ll be perfectly fine. I have tinnitus and I’m half deaf in my left ear yet I still heard most of all of the beeps played. And for vision, yes, it can be difficult but the examiner does ask which row you can read up to. It’s not hard as you think it is. Any other questions depending on the MEPS physical, you can ask me.. especially coming from someone with a shit load of bad stuff walking into the physical. I had surgical scars, a few birthmarks, acne, scratches/cuts, and then I had a blurry right eye with a partial deaf left ear. Turns out I was the 1st person out of 15 other people to be officially medically qualified (and this was the first time visit there).

Is MEPS really that hard these days? In 84 all we really had to do was pass the piss test, the physical, and not get caught in a lie. Hell, they even offered me airborne in my contract as they were typing it up (required a quick additional physical test). It felt like they wanted me in more than they were trying to DQ me.

I already went to meps but didn’t swear in because the school I went to the Marine Corps has this new tier system where if you go to a tier 2 (charter or private school ) you have to have your HS Diploma in hand, well my recruiters had no idea about this. So I was sent home after I was asvab and med qualified. Now I have my HS Diploma and I am going back to MEPS. But between the time I went before and now had an ATV accident and had a concussion, skull fracture, and a nice scar my forehead. My recruiters told me there is no way to hide that scar. So I have to go down the med packet route. Luckily I have no permanent trauma or condition from this, and also my skull fracture healed naturally meaning no surgery required. I submitted my hospital records day of the accident and a follow up from my primary care doctor who said I am fit for everyday activity and there is nothing wrong with me. Waiting for MEPS to comeback with their verdict. Recruiter told me it will either be he's good " or "need more paperwork” I don't see why they would need more. The hospital never asked for follow up care because it would heal on it's own. I have no light ty, no headaches. Nothing, just a slight crack of my head and my first concussion in the 19 years I have lived here. I am very confident because my only dream since I was 6 years old was to become a United States Marine. I’ll keep you updated. Semper Fi

This is not up to date. The Dr asked me about things I never disclosed that she found in the genesis portal. I just admitted to it, explained it and I passed. So don't lie, go ahead and down play things. But if they ask you about something that wasn't disclosed just own up to it.

I go to see a recruiter for the Army in a couple of days. I have already talked to him about my only medical problem. I fractured my left femur bone from an accident when I was like 6 (I'm 19 now) I do have a titanium rod still in my leg and a scar from surgery and a scar by my knee from the accident it didn't hurt my knee. the leg has never given me a problem since it healed like a year after the accident. And I was even cleared in middle school and high school to play football. I have always wanted to join and I was always afraid I was going to get disqualified because of this. What do you think the chances are for me to get a waiver and make it through MEPS? Thanks for all your great content and hopefully I will be a future soldier in the Army.

I went into a MEPS Virginia center in 2014 and drove there myself. Got to the part with the doctor to weigh me on a scale. Found out for my height I was underweight for miminum requirement of the Coast Guard. That was my branch I was disqualified from and the Navy was the only one that didn't have this which he told me about. I still was upset my time was wasted being there for 12 ish hours and I was sent home to make a decision with my recruiter. He was pretty ignorant and naive when I told him what happened he said he didn't know that weight would be a problem and never saw that before. Could have wrote a waiver but I get why weight is important especially when you have to pull people out of the ocean and save lives. Ended up going to another career choice and never looked back.
@YellowwFellow4 жыл бұрын
Side note they did the wiegh in during the private room physical with the doctor where you completely strip down for a cavity search. We all waited on chairs near the bathroom piss testing and one by one went in. After that was done everyone was negotiating their MOS and getting sworn in which I wasn't able to get to obviously. I guess depending on the year you attend and location they do things in another order through out the day. They only had snack machines too no actual lunch.
