@CinnamonLynn2 жыл бұрын
No but they are going to pull out your medical records for any medication you’ve been prescribed by your doctor and you will probably need to provide a doctors note from that doctor who prescribed you that medication for what reason etc. Your recruiter should ask you medical questions regarding if you’ve had any surgery done etc and it will be best to tell them anything else they need to know even if they haven’t brought it up.

I passed MEPS back in 1975 - but I shouldn't have. I failed the eye test with my left eye. I've been legally blind in that eye since birth. So, I scored a 20/200 (instead of 20/20). I asked another doctor later if that means I officially failed MEPS. Because, if I did, then I was leaving. Why take the rest of the physical if I already failed? Anyway, without encouragement from me, he took his pen and scratched out the 20/200 and re-wrote 20/20. With a grin on his face he sent me to the next station. Well, when I got to Lackland, one of the things they do is check your eyes for glasses. The eye doc couldn't figure out how I got 20/20 at MEPS and now I'm getting 20/200 at Lackland. He just shrugged and finished the eye tests. I never heard any more about it.

I just came back from MEPS today, honestly I was overthinking it. The only thing that sucked was the waiting. I would highly suggest getting enough sleep! I would also bring a sweater because I didn’t and it was freezing during the morning and in the ASVAB room. Be respectful to everyone there and ask questions if you don’t understand something. Also make sure you have all your documents that your recruiter asked you to bring and you’ll be set. Something I didn’t see anyone mention is how in MEPS they will guide you and provide instructions as to where to go next after each station. It’s very simple as long as you’re following instructions. Also once you’re on the medical section and it’s your turn to give out blood, when they ask you if you’re afraid of needles or you get dizzy when seeing blood, make sure you answer honestly! They won’t disqualify you for being afraid but they will if you faint and hit your head or an accident happens due to fainting. Make sure that whenever you’re in an interview you say exactly what’s on your documents since they only know what you provide. Also the part where they see your private areas isn’t a big deal at all, they see you for less than 2 seconds and for me personally it went by extremely fast. If you have any questions ask to me in the replies and I’ll answer to the best of my knowledge and personal experience! Also awesome video Ben! Really helped ❤️

I got 3 more years until I can try to enlist but I'm preparing as much as possible, so far I've learned the answer is always no 😂

My MEPS experience, which admittedly was a LONG time ago back in '85, was such a non-experience I barely remember it. I do remember I hated taking the ASVAB since I detested taking long tests, but other than that, I thought it was just a formality. At the time, unless you're a complete rock and flunk out of the ASVAB or a crackhead who can't pass the piss test, it was very difficult to not make it though.

The issue for me is that I have a large scar on my back and my recruiter said it could be a disqualifier. Other than that, I'm perfectly fine, healthy, great physical shape; just that obstacle in the way.

Brandon Torres are you going active duty? If you are there’s only a handful of places you’ll go. I’m at Campbell right now. Chances of deploying are slim. You can pick up e5 pretty fast if your not fucked up. Less than 3 years. All I can tell you is learn your job and get good at it. You’ll be going on a lot of missions. We move everything. At Campbell we are the only unit that have 10ks and Kalmars so we move all the conexs for the whole division. That’s if your coming to campbell. Good luck. If you have any questions let me know.

If anyone is like me and got nervous for the blood pressure heart rate part like me please don’t be it took me a whole extra few months and waivers for no apparent reason and it was unnecessary just relax and you’ll be fine had to get waivers and finally got in and made it all the way through infantry osut. Best of luck to everyone.

Same thing happened to me I’m now waiting for Dr. clearance, I didn’t ask my doctor for a clearance the first time he did a ekg on me and now meps want a clearance but my doctor refused to give me a clearance letter because he say it’s been over 3 months since I had it done he want me to do another one ekg.

luna sunny sorry to hear man my 3 year contract is finally up in November so I’m almost out now but just letting you know even after at meps at basic training before deployment even every year they do a periodic health assessment they are going to take your blood pressure heart rate so it’s something that your going to need to eventually get over anyway best of luck hope it all works out for you.

I’m going to the hotel right now, but I’m doing the physical tomorrow. The only thing I didn’t list down to my recruiter is that I have slightly bad hearing in the left ear. My right ear is perfect. It’s like left-65% right-100%. Is the hearing test hard? And can you make it through with partial hearing loss? I’ll edit this comment in a few days when I finish the physical. Edit: I have officially completed my MEPS physical exam and what can I tell you other than I passed everything. If you’re so concerned about your vision or hearing don’t be.. unless you’re extremely blind or straight up deaf. You’ll be perfectly fine. I have tinnitus and I’m half deaf in my left ear yet I still heard most of all of the beeps played. And for vision, yes, it can be difficult but the examiner does ask which row you can read up to. It’s not hard as you think it is. Any other questions depending on the MEPS physical, you can ask me.. especially coming from someone with a shit load of bad stuff walking into the physical. I had surgical scars, a few birthmarks, acne, scratches/cuts, and then I had a blurry right eye with a partial deaf left ear. Turns out I was the 1st person out of 15 other people to be officially medically qualified (and this was the first time visit there).

Please do a video on waivers. I can’t get a recruiter to email me back but I’m very serious about joining. Preferably Air Force. I’ve had surgery on both knees (2006/2007) left ankle (2011), left elbow (2009). All were orthroscoped and I have absolutely no issues with them. My 1.5 mile run is down to 15 mins and I’m up to 33 correct push ups in one minute. I’ve made a 69 on the practice asvab.
@thecookandthecookie35935 жыл бұрын
Damn Dude! That's going to be tough getting med waviers! If i was you i would go ARMY. Air Force isn't going to accept you but the Army will likely submit some waviers. I believe they have a new policy that waviers are reviewed and approved or not in 30 days Max. Try it out dude
@jenniferguinn2225 жыл бұрын
The Cook And the Cookie I heard the army is the branch most likely to approve waivers. If Air Force tells me no then that’s what I’ll try. I have no issues with any of my joints and have full mobility.
@thecookandthecookie35935 жыл бұрын
@@jenniferguinn222 You have to look at your medical history from the Air Force or Army perspective. You can be 100% Physically but on paper your jacked up! Its not Impossible it will just take time, effort, and patience.

The Cook And the Cookie thanks for the motivation. I’ve heard some crazy stories about how people have gotten waivers for all kinds of stuff so I know it’s possible, just have to go through the process.

Is MEPS really that hard these days? In 84 all we really had to do was pass the piss test, the physical, and not get caught in a lie. Hell, they even offered me airborne in my contract as they were typing it up (required a quick additional physical test). It felt like they wanted me in more than they were trying to DQ me.

Yeah no need to tell personal things about your mental health if you arent currently suffering from suicidal tendencies or bi polarism, etc. Sure, if you went to get professional help and got prescribed medication for that issue, well it'll be on your records. So you have to disclose that shit. But let us say you had a bad break up in high school and really hated life that year but never got a therapist or counseling. No point to bring that up as it is irrelevant lol
