@@briandabarrera6690 - I'm pretty sure that at my university, you can't get foreign language credit for your native language. I certainly can't ... but maybe Spanish speakers can? Hmm. I'm trying to imagine taking an English test designed for people learning English as a second/foreign language. I certainly could not take a test in the _Intensive English Language Program_ at my school and be given credit for 2 years of foreign language. I would ace a test like that in my sleep. There would be no point -- my being able to handle basic English would not be any sort of accomplishment that required any effort. It just strikes me as odd that Spanish L1 speakers apparently have testing out of their own mother tongue for foreign language credit available to them at some schools in the USA, and native English speakers definitely do not.

I have the test on Monday, I would say I'm almost fluent in Spanish but not quite there. I'm most worried about the audio comprehension portion because when I'm nervous or too focused on remembering what I'm hearing, it gets harder to actually pay attention. Were the dialogues for the audio part super long? And are you allowed to take notes?
@samanthamata50605 жыл бұрын
don'twakemeup don’t worry, I was worried about the same! I get EASILY distracted. There were 2-3 dialogues that were a little lengthy, about 1-2 min or so. At least my exam was like that. Yes, you are allowed to take notes and I really recommend to do so, you have to write fast though, since audio can’t be repeated. What I did was write anything I was able to catch on to. One of my dialogues was a story of how to bake some Spanish cake and one question asked for the order of how to bake it. So I wrote one name or one ingredient which helped me a lot. So just write ANYTHING that you’re able to catch on to, it’ll really help! What I had a little of trouble with was the reading part. I had to re read and re read to understand it, they were short THANK GOD. But I ran out of time and didn’t get to answer 10 questions. So try your best to understand the passage. I would suggest reading in Spanish to help practice!
@ninetyfour045 жыл бұрын
@@samanthamata5060 Hi! Thanks for the response, I actually took my exam on Monday and I got a 76. I agree with every word of advice you offered, it is exactly what I did. Every single word I heard, I jotted down, I didn't even understand my own handwriting lol. The audio portion was the part I was worried about most and it seems more like a memory test than a Spanish skill test lol, I understood every word, I just couldn't remember it all. I had to reread the passages over and over too. I sped through the questions that were easy fill in ones so I could give myself more time to go over the long passages. I had 5 remaining minutes which I used to review the longer passages.

Hey clep guineapig Great video! Have a quick question is there a lot of preterite, and imperfect, past, future tenses on the test in the grammar portion? I’m very good with present and conjugation for the most part I wasn’t sure on how to set up. I know a lot of vocabulary too. However I have Never taken a clep exam became before. Saying that you took the test without studying kind of makes me want to do the same. I speak a good amount of Spanish with my extended family, and in my neighborhood. I speak probably like a third grader. I did two years of Spanish in high school along with Rosetta Stone and now dualingo. However I just got the clep practice test and a book and it was harder than I thought it would be. Is the test really that hard?
@studywithmarq6 жыл бұрын
Its hard for someone that has no understanding of spanish at all. If you can make out words and put sentences together I think you will be fine. A good portion of the exam is audio. Not a whole lot of grammer stuff, your basic grammer questions, but If you can have convos in spanish you should have no problem. Sorry for the late reply btw.

Clep Guineapig So was the grammar section hard, some times the congregations in past and future tenses are confusing. 10 seconds is not alot of time to answer questions in my opinions. I took my exam two days ago and it was strange. While the audio was playing all that was on the screen were the letters ABCD with nothing written beside them and instead the choices were read out to you and you had 10 seconds to choose once the audio stopped because it would move onto the next problem. For the other audio you could see a picture that represented what the audio was about such as a desk with a phone to represent someone calling to make an appointment. The audio would play while this picture is up and you would see no question until it was over. So take notes! Because they’ll ask about sequence of conversation, details, and the overall significance of the conversation. When I say sequence you can usually tell they’ll ask you about it because the audio will list an itinerary or something similar Ex. “First we went to Mexico where you could swim, drink, see family, and hang out, after that we went to Colombia where we saw sharks and waterfalls. Etc.” And the test will ask you to order the countries or cities mentioned.

WIll there be questions that I have to write out, in spanish, what they are saying, or are my reposes all in english? Also, in the fill in the blank questions, will they be multiple choice questions or will I have to know the proper spelling for the words?

Whats going on my friend. All of the questions were basically multiple choice. Everything is computer based, so there will be no writing out. The main thing you will be doing is listening and answering a lot of questions. If you speak and understand spanish well I think you will be just fine.

Are all the sections multiple choice or do we have to write out free response?
@studywithmarq7 жыл бұрын
Nathaly Duque Its all multiple choice. I would say half reading and answering and the other listening and answering

Jaime Gonzalez if you consider yourself to know a little more than basic Spanish, you’ll be fine! I would recommend practicing reading Either books or magazines

I took the test and got a 60 :( should I retake it or just drop it
@studywithmarq7 жыл бұрын
yipyip255 just depends on what you want. You want a higher grade than sure. If you want to just be done with the class Id say keep it. A 60 is like equivelant to a B or B+ I belive
@studywithmarq7 жыл бұрын
yipyip255 Still pretty fuckin awesome if you ask me. Congrats btw!! Hope I was a help.
@yipyip2557 жыл бұрын
Clep Guineapig you were a help. It's just I wish I kind of had a count down before the test started. I was thrown in and disoriented. I missed the first 3 questions. Which could of gotten me a 63. For my school a 50 is 6 credits. A 63 is 9 credits and I got a 60.
@studywithmarq7 жыл бұрын
yipyip255 I see. Well hay man. That still an accomplishment either way.

I am currently about to take the Spanish 1&2 Clep exam in 5 days and I can speak it fluently (cuz i am a native speaker) and can understand Spanish perfectly but I just dont think I'm good enough, like for example I took the practice exam and got a 70/100 and I need at least a 63 to get the credits I need for applying to a university that need those requirements. I'm sure I can pass it but I would rather pass it with a higher score any tips?
@studywithmarq7 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late reply. I think you will pass with what you need because you are a fluent speaker. It should actually be pretty easy for you.
