This is the most real, relatable, honest iTalki review on KZbin. Paid "sponsored" videos from others are pretty much a waste, because they are essentially a commercial. These nine minutes FLEW by. Straight to the point information, with empathetic vibes. As a language learner, and an iTalki newbie, I could relate to your tornado of mixed feelings of frustration, excitement, motivation, anxiety, gratification, and anti-socialness...the feeling of not wanting to do a lesson...doing it anyway...and then being happy that you did. These kind of videos motivate me. Thank you. Subscribed. 👍

@@claysoggyfries Not necessarily. Native spanish speaker just indicates that the person grew up with Spanish being spoken at their home/country. Perhaps there was another language spoken at their home as well such as English. Maybe the person learned more English than Spanish while growing up. They might be anywhere between A1 up to upper B2 so they could do basic conversations but nothing very complicated. Now if someone were to say I'm a C2 Spanish speaker then yea you would expect them to be fluent/expert at Spanish.

Ok, your channel is hilarious! I'm also studying Spanish, and had my first iTalki lesson about 10 days ago. I've had three different teachers. I have been meeting with a teacher from Colombia who doesn't speak English and I barely speak spanish, but it's so cool how we just sort of made the conversation work. It wasn't pretty, and she had to be super patient with me but I left the conversation feeling motivated to keep working hard.

You have a beautiful accent and a great gramally, I think that one of the most dificult things when you learn Spanish is the amount of accent that we have, but you are practicing with teacher from others countries and that is going to help you a lot!. Since last year i've done 40 over lessons on Italki in my target language, all community tutors. I usually take 1-2 lessons per week max. That's because I believe it's important for me to internalise all the new expressions and vocabulary taught by my tutor before the next lesson, so I can use the words as practice for the next lesson, plus my tutor doesn't waste time correcting me about the same thing over and over again. I also teach on Italki and I tell my students this too. For those who are anxious about starting on Italki, don't worry and just go ahead to book your first lesson! Pretty sure 5 minutes into the lesson you'd have forgotten all that nervousness, unless the tutor is really bad (in which case you just find another tutor).

What kind of lessons are they? Do the teachers give you notes or share the screen etc or is it purely an oral chat?

You were great!!! just a note, most Spanish speaking natives and instructors like to speak with English speakers willing to speak their language are for the most part and are very helpful and really appreciate the fact that you are interested in communicating with them in their native language. Keep it up, I'm considering becoming a community tutor to teach Spanish for English speakers. Buena suerte!

I really enjoyed this video because I AM an English Teacher on italki. I wanted a teacher, but like you, I didn't know enough to speak longer than 3 minutes, so I taught myself enough vocabulary to carry on a conversation for at least 20 minutes. I mustered up the nerve found a Teacher and...Let's just say, I am back to being self-taught. (I'm not trying to discourage anyone from using italki; I'm just sharing my experience.) I was so happy and prepared, so when the class started, I happily greeted her with, "Buenas dias!" She aggressively stated, "Buenas tardes!" (In MY time zone, it was 10:30 in the morning. In her time zone, it was 12:30 in the afternoon.) Everything I said was WRONG and needed immediate and firm "drill sergeant-in-the-army-like" correction! It's true, that different teachers use different methods, but...anyway... Your experience has encouraged me to keep trying, MY teacher is out there, somewhere.

I freaked out at how unprofessional and condescending that first Italki teacher was, interrupting your Spanish with his English ("It's normal, it's normal", so easily understood but not condescending if he'd just said it in Spanish, what you're paying for:"Es normal, es normal"), the worst thing you can do to a student when they're feeling insecure while speaking the target language, something I would never inflict on any student of mine, as I also teach on Italki. (I'm pretty sure he then infringed on some copyright protocol, distributing third party published material.) Well done, Emmy! Come back to Spain soon!

hi !, I just watch your video by coincidence and I can say your Spanish is awesome!, you are doing great, congrats !... I'm from Mexico so my native language is Spanish, if you want we can zoom from time to time to practice your Spanish and I can practice my English as well, would be cool to learn Japanese although! :-p

Nice video 🙌🏽 I’m learning English, so if someone want to practice Spanish we can do an exchange 🇺🇸🇪🇸

I'm exaggerating here, but I'd rather dodge bullets than to start taking actual speaking lessons. In all seriousness though, I'll take the plunge eventually - I promise - I can't avoid the inevitable. 😉

I want to askk something, I hope you would mind to answer, did you book the trial first or just go for the classes without going through trial? Because the trials requires payment, they're not free (obviosly) so I wonder if they're not nessesary in your opinion? I think I would skip the trial too if you think so, thankss
