I have a strategy of going through the test and flagging all the questions asking me ICD or HCPCS look up and saving those for last and starting with CPT questions first. I have noticed with that I end up having a lot more time than I thought to do the test and not freaking out a lot while keeping an eye on the timer still. The exams get a refresh every January 1st to reflect the current calendar year's code sets. So, even though ICD-10-CM codes might update on October 1st, those changes won't show up in the exam until the new year rolls around. 🗓️ Feel free to use last year's books, but just know you might be at a slight disadvantage. For the full scoop, check out AAPC's official guidance: www.aapc.com/resources/cpc-exam-faqs " What year's code books should I use during my certification exam? Because certification exams are based on the current calendar year's code sets, it’s essential for coders to reference the current year’s code books to ensure optimal performance. We strongly suggest using the current year's books. You may use the previous calendar year’s books during your certification exam, but doing so would put you at a disadvantage."

I have been driving the struggle bus. I see everyone saying what great grades that got when they passed but I have failed twice and honestly both times I took it I felt doomed from the jump. I had a terrible go during class a relapse of Ms and the hurricane hit so I missed a chunk and had to catch up. On the first test day my proctor thing messed up and it took almost all day to fix and I wanted to reschedule but nope. The second time they complained about where I was sitting what I was wearing, everything so now I just dont know if I can do it. I was feeling so confident now I feeling like the 12 year old me that is lost in middle school.

Since there are extensive guidelines in certain sections of the CPT book, how do you know which ones to really focus on for the exam?
@ContempoCoding18 күн бұрын
There really is no way for certain to know which way to focus on, as the exam will be 100 questions randomized from a test bank of over 1,000 questions. However, in the official AAPC Study Guide they do highlight topics that are more common to be focused on for the exam.
