Did you know: putting a pinch of salt on the fruits makes them taste even a little sweeter and is good to balance the energy of yin-fruit and yang-salt. Just like one puts condiments with meat-same idea: meat-yang codiments-yin.

@@Steve-Owens some Oranges are big.. Thick and wide walls. and it just breaks in half.. i will say it is easier to do it that way.. It just does not fold out like the one you had. it would have to be a specialty orange smaller ones with thin peel..

I said no way to the second one where you use the bottom of the spoon to peel it. So I ran to the kitchen and I tried it... I was freaking amazed... Thank you so much for this knowledge.. Steve's Kitchen I tried both methods, however I prefer the spoon method and the kids love that they have a little bowl to put their orange slithers into, I would love to see if you had another way of cutting a mango, thanks again!

here in the uk the only oranges we get from imported sources are one with really thick, leathery skins. there's now way these methods work on those suckers mate. the ones you were using were ripe, thin skinned varieties that are more like satsumas or clementines.

In the first method he pre-cut the segments before opening up the orange. That’s why there was a break between the cut to the middle and the opening out. I tried it and it doesn’t work.

I tried it and it does work. No pre cuts. If you followed it properly, it should work and I found out that the oranges come off of the skin easily. One thing to mention that, once you cut both sides and then in the last cut, pull both sides of the orange as if opening a book but not too hard if you want to make a mess. Do the same procedure with the big pieces and notice how they split into two again. You can take the orange right of the skin too.

It worked for me, but the segments were holding together pretty firmly and it definitely didn't come apart nearly as easily. I guess it depends on the orange. You might just get lucky sometimes.
