How To Perfect The Volvo 940 Exhaust Sound & Fit | Ft. JT Tuning & Martelius Exhaust

Finally, our Volvo 940 Turbo project car is back on the road. It is time to make the exhaust setup perfect with the help of JT Tuning!
The exhaust system on our Volvo has countless problems. From very poor fitment to cold start droning sounds, missing hangers and awful looks, we fix it all together with JT Tuning and Martelius Exhaust. Grumblo participates in the product development process and the Turbo Brick project car serves as the development platform. We install the first and mildest sound version of the 3 alternatives and proceed to road test the system.

I have problem with fitment for the whole exhaust. 3” angled downpipe, 200cpi cat, only rear silencer. Its close to body everywhere.. i need support.

Does having a larger diameter exhaust reduce the torque due to the lower back-pressure? I have a 1986 W126 AMG Widebody and when I replaced the exhaust the guy was not keen on increasing the diameter for this reason.

Backpressure increasing torque is a total myth, what you need on an NA car is the correct exhaust velocity to encourage scavenging. On a turbo exhaust you just want as little restriction as possible after the turbo.

what is the 2 angles on the downpipe for volvo 940 turbo, i consider doing my own but need the angles, is it 30 degrees or 45 degrees?

Yes since it has a 200cpsi cat.

Though i might add if the car is before 91 you don't need a cat unless its marked as cat/low emissions in the papers or something.
