I just gave my fish their second H2O2 bath tonight using these methods. Using the hybrid tank transfer method to treat for what I believe is velvet.

Hi Humblefish, Big thanks for your content. Finally someone talk about treating marine velvet, since almost everyone talk about ich. But i have some question regarding marine velvet: 1. Why running UV is not the "popular option" to treat/control marine velvet? I'm running 15w UV to my fishonly tank for a week and then my velvet problem 'seems' to be gone. I'm sure it's not 100% gone, but why people don't recomend it as their 'savety net'? 2. Does leaving immune fish in the DT count as "fallow"? 3. Have you tried experimenting with running H2O2 in the QT as alternate to copper? Chloroquine does wonders for me but it's hard to get. Copper seems not do much to treat velvet.

1. A UV is useful to help control Velvet & other parasites, but the danger is if you experience an extended power loss or the UV breaks. That leaves you defenseless against latent parasites that may come roaring back. 2. No - Fallow means fishless in this regard. The DT has to be completely void of fish. 3. This QT protocol might interest you: humble.fish/community/index.php?threads/hybrid-ttm-to-treat-all-parasites.87/

Maybe I’m not thinking this through correctly, is there any dilution with the water added that would prevent you from putting only half the water in, testing the ppm and if it read 75, then when you double the water amount to the full gallon you would know you now have the 150 ??
@HumblefishReef

so just to be clear, I could use the same bath water for multiple fish, one after the other in the same day? No chance of getting parasites on the last fish from the first ones bath?
@HumblefishReef
@HumblefishReef 2 жыл бұрын
I would probably only use the same bath water over a 1-2 hour period to play it safe. I would also test the bath water to ensure the peroxide is still active: www.amazon.com/dp/B005XTZMWY/

Hey there, So, I have this question that I want to ask and it’s either a stupid one or a great one that I can use. Since I cannot quarantine corals (I really want to though) as I need a chiller (my parents won’t allow me to get one as it’s really expensive) I was wondering if I can quarantine my corals in my sump. I mean the whole idea of quarantining is to have the corals in a separate system and get rid of the pests before adding them to the tank, but hear me out. So, I was think if I could make a coral frag system connected to my sump almost like a display refugium. I have plenty of space in my sump so, I can put a tank over the sump. I was thinking of putting a pump in the protein skimmer section which will pump the water into the tank and from where the water will come out, I will put a 100-micron filter sock so that nothing can get into the main display. Do you think this will work? I am hoping that that 100-micron filter sock will stop all the pests from going into the main display as they will get stuck in the filter sock or at least that's what I’m hoping. Please let me know if this will work so that I can keep the pests out of the tank even though it is basically connected to the tank. This means I would not need a chiller for my tank and I can ’quarantine’ my corals. I could also use that tank as a frag system when I am not quarantining any corals. If this doesn’t work, I have a different plan, but this will be better for me. Thanks! Please let me know. Take care!

Sump will not be viable as a quarantine. Freeswimers will navigate to the display tank. To be in quarantine it must be separated from the display.
@HumblefishReef
@HumblefishReef 3 жыл бұрын
@@aaronjames994 I agree. There is no way to truly QT corals/inverts without a specific tank that is meant for this purpose.

Could you do fresh water dip with hydrogen peroxide in it as a 2 for the price of one?
@HumblefishReef
@HumblefishReef 3 жыл бұрын
No, because the H2O2 baths needs to last 30 minutes in order to be effective. A freshwater dip can only be done for 5 minutes in most cases.
