Again, love the vibes in the making of these educational vids, its hard to find this laid back vibes with other creators, which is what makes you stand out. The other creators try to compete themselves by being extremely organized and explaining things in a professional manner. This content is exactly what I need because thats the teaching style Im looking for, real laid back, no one is rushing, but trying to train a new employee in 10 minutes without the feeling of it being all rushed, just the way I like it.

It makes sense that the quantization can't work if we're late because it can't go back in time and play it _before_ we pressed the button. But I wonder if some contingency options are available. A sort of pocket threshold. If you hit the note right before the grid, then obviously you meant for it to play on that next gridline. But if you're wayyyyy early, beyond the "pocket threshold", then the system could assume that you're late, and then you could configure the desired behavior for late hits. Presumably the most popular choices would be "just play it now and don't quantize, as I'd rather be a little late than on the completely wrong beat" or "don't play that note at all, it'll sound better without it".

i wonder if you can use some sort of side chain from the drum track where the midi note click happens to pressed note when beat signal is found and no retriggering occurs until key is lifted
@toshanjames95894 ай бұрын
you can use the arpeggiator for this by settings steps to 0 and gate to 200% and the beat syn to 1/4 or 1/8 note, this way it always triggers on bead subdivision and the gate being 200% allows for the note to not keep getting retriggered

Useful, especially the input /output bit, although I'm not sure of how this would apply to a techno liveset perhaps that focuses more on developing a few synth sounds over time than playing melodies.

Can anyone confirm for me if you are better off automating your instrument rack on and off to save on cpu? I was under the impression that whatever plugins aren't being used in the rack would pretty much be inactive, so I currently run all of my set patches through one rack rather than having 1 rack per song etc.

Are all your songs in the same tempo or can you change the bpm based on the clip that is playing?
@fabianwolf68497 ай бұрын
Global quantization and a knob mapped to the song tempo is a method. Set the limits to the BPM you need, cuz the range will otherwise be absurd and you'll change the bpm in 0.01 steps. There's a script option that works way better, but involves basic coding knowledge and a lot of dummy clips. Let me see if I find the name, cuz it's literally just a free GitHub download or sth... brb
@fabianwolf68497 ай бұрын
ClyphX is what you need, bro.

90% of the set was the same bpm, for the last two songs I set the bpm on the scene so that when I triggered the scene the whole set automatically jumps to the right tempo
