The first 10 seconds of this video perfectly describe me a week ago when I found out that the couple I would be shooting this past weekend wanted a shot of them in front of fireworks at their wedding. I had never attempted OCF at weddings before (only with headshots and studio work) or shot people in front of fireworks before. This tutorial was soooo helpful with my planning and gave me the confidence to try it. I’m happy to say that I was able to get a couple good shots and it worked out successfully. Thank you!

Awesome tutorial. I also find putting a small torch on the light stand pointing at the couple helps my camera focus on the couple if it is super dark outside.

What about a slow shutter and using a second current flash?
@p.burley4533 Жыл бұрын
Super-helpful! How could you have fixed the blur on one of those fireworks shots, the one with the silhouette? They’re exploding (i.e., fast), it’s dark. Also, what flash setting(s)?

I recently shot a wedding on a yacht, with a city produced firework display - I planned for everything - except getting sea sick! I managed to get one shot of the couple in focus & then cheated by adding fireworks from Canada Day to salvage the picture. It's been so many years since I experienced motion sickness that I was not prepared. So, that''s just an extra consideration for anyone who might find themselves in a similar wedding scenario.

Oh goodness! Yes sea sickness would definitely have me down and out too. No shame in adding fireworks to the image at all. The tech is here to help us. But good tip to prepare for sea sickness if on a yacht.

Hi, great video 👍🏻 Can you answer this please? When using a video light, how would you go about setting your exposure? Do you light up your couple with the light the way you want it and set exposure for the couple in light or would you do this and slightly under expose from there ? Regards

I expose for fireworks and then add in the light. Alternately, you can turn on the light and expose for the light and then snap your first picture when the fireworks go off and then adjust accordingly. Either one works.

Hey there! What if I have an off camera flash with no stand? Also Godox. Do you suggest someone holding it at 45 degrees or would just an on camera flash be ok?
@JosiahBlizzard2 жыл бұрын
You certainly could pull this off with on camera flash. There’s a really trendy on camera flash look happening right now so yeah, use what you got. If you want someone holding it 45 degrees, it would more dimension to the image but maybe experiment with both and see what you like better

Curious if you had any difficulty with focus, taking photos in the dark. I'm assuming you used autofocus? Thanks for the video tutorial!

Because we were shooting video as well, there was a small video light on them and that helped with focus but our flashes out out a ton more light than the video light so the results are drastically different if I didn’t use flash.

Great video, quick question what if I dont have godox ad2000 , what if I only have 2 godox tt600? would that work ?
@JosiahBlizzard2 жыл бұрын
It should I think. Haven't used the tt600. Light is light so whatever you have available to use, use it the best you can. I just find the AD200s are great for what our workflow.

The light I used here is no longer available, but this is a great alternative: www.amazon.com/gp/slredirect/picassoRedirect.html/ref=pa_sp_atf_aps_sr_pg1_1?ie=UTF8&adId=A091096017S5RT9LFNVVS&url=%2FIVISII-Portable-Conference-2600-10000K-Photography%2Fdp%2FB08DCS3DFD%2Fref%3Dsr_1_1_sspa%3Fcrid%3D2QAVUDOBQ9P8F%26keywords%3Dcore%2Bswx%2Btorch%2Bled%2Bbolt%2B250w%2Bon%2Bcamera%2Blight%26qid%3D1652883681%26sprefix%3Dtorch%2Bbolt%2Blight%252Caps%252C269%26sr%3D8-1-spons%26psc%3D1&qualifier=1652883681&id=5254570928745057&widgetName=sp_atf
