Okay so as you come up with ideas, you can now check they’re available, my first tip is to try to keep it short and simple. Just a few syllables that are easily memorable. I went with Eljayem because it is unique, it’s three short syllables, it is personable to me, and most importantly it is really easy for my chat to shorten into nicknames, like Eljay.
If you have a nickname sometimes that can be a great place to start with, even an anagram of your name could be good.

I think another thing to think about with usernames is accessibility - including leetspeak and number substitutions makes your name much more difficult to recognise for less internet-savvy users, non-native speakers of your language, and anyone using text-to-speech!

Been using JaySkott for a while & I like to think it worked with your video. Short, sweet, & easy to just go by Jay. Another tip I would add is making sure the first 6 characters of your name are unique if you can. When you get affiliate your emote prefix on Twitch will always be the first 6 characters of your username unless it’s taken, in which case it will follow the prefix with a number. Being “GamingGodKiller” might be cool until you realize your emote premix is now ‘gaming529’ I got extremely lucky that ‘jaysko’ wasn’t taken. Your videos are always super helpful! Thank you!

I honestly don’t remember when or how I got the name I use right now (BongoToucan) but it seems to fill out most of the criteria in this video and I’m almost entirely sure that I’m the only one that uses it. It’s not restrictive in the content I could make, it’s reasonably simple and I’ve found that it sticks in people’s minds because I’ve had multiple people question me about what a mix of a bongo and a toucan would be like, and it isn’t a one off thing that they mention, it’s brought up a few times over time

I have two usernames I use for everything. I like Novastitous. It’s like a combination of Super Nova, and Superstitious. Novastitous just has a ring I love. But sometimes, games or apps will block it because novasTITous is inappropriate. So on those cases I use CosmicCowling, this keeps the space theme, but also uses part of Full Cowling from My Hero Academia. My twitch name for my first two months of streaming (Nov 2020-Jan 2021) was Micrs0ftw0rd and it was awful for a streamer. It was funny when I was a viewer and the streamers would always get a kick out of reading it in chat but I made the decision to change my name once I hit affiliate and honestly, best decision I made. That fact that I made affiliate at all with that name is amazing lmao. It is kinda funny though 'cause I have a bunch of people in my community that call me McSoftie because of my old name. It's a nice little inside thing I have with them! As for the name now, Tomas is my actual name then TDE stands for The Dank Engine. Figured I lived with those jokes my whole life why not embrace it!

The only problem I have with my username is pronunciation Naes_TCK Sean backwards and TCK stands for The Cookie King, a nickname I had in highschool. The underscore here isn't much of an issue as it makes it less confusing to pronounce because people will try to pronounce the TCK if there wasn't an underscore. Overall whenever someone tries I just say it's "nay es"

Great again! Question: I'm planning to start streaming more on Twitch as an extension of other marketing for my podcast and business because mixing business and fun sounds like how I want to run my company. So, do you have any safety tips for someone whose name is incredibly easy to find?

I used to go by lostboysandneverland on twitch and the small following i had were actually really upset when i said I was going to rebrand since i was small enough to do so without major confusion. I even explained that I was doing it because the name was too long, hard to navigate and just didn't have any way of nicknaming outside of "lost" or "lostboy"...a few stayed after the rebrand but I definitely lost a good chunk of viewership over something that I personally felt was so simple. That said, I'm noticing people seem to be far more likely to click onto my streams now with a shorter name that also has an implied nickname "Fritz" I also am so much happier with it which makes me feel a lot more confident when I greet new viewers and introduce myself. So while I lost some viewers, I gained confidence which, personally I feel will help me in the long run anyways.

I started with the name Pilchard2002. Originally got it when I was 4 playing Club Penguin as a kid! Decided Pilchard (My cats name) and 2002 as that is the year I was born. Only within the last year or so I decided I needed a new username. I didn't know what to make it. I wanted it to have "Games" somewhere in it! I went online and found a theme generator until I got something I liked. Space. Once I had this theme I immediately thought of StarGames. I felt something was missing and I wasn't quite sure. I went on a random word generator and made a list of 50+ words. Star *Word* Games. Eventually after running through various names like StarStreamGames, StarDevGames, StarSkyGames, StarPlanetGames. I finally decided to settle with StarFluxGames, I'm very happy with my decision.

I had "Foxy" For the longest time back when I was a kid because I was obsessed with Foxy from FNAF and mentioned it every chance I had -,.,- Username tip I would give: It doesn't have to be completly abstract, you can use a name that haves something common in it, if it holds meaning for you or if it sounds cool or cute with the rest of the username. My username is made of two common words and yet it sounds nice. About my username: Muffin is a name I had for a very long time, and back when I met my boyfriend he said one of the main reasons he was interested in meeting me was because my username was cute, so it holds a soft spot because if I didn't have this name maybe we wouldn't have met. The shy part is something about me, I am introverted and shy and well it looks cute when you mix Shy and Muffin (I mostly only use ShyMuffin for gamertag and Muffin for social media but in cases like youtube I use ShyMuffin) It is also easy to remember and I can be called both Shy or Muffin. Which are both cute and easy to say.

I'm on my personal account right now, but I'm curious to get some feedback on my current name/theme. My handle is KainDrago. It's based off of two of my favorite characters in fiction. Kain from Legacy of Kain and of course, Ivan Drago. My theme is the Kingdom of Kain. My intro isn't hard written yet but the rough draft is essentially we share the kingdom, so be good to each other and let's have fun. And my "ranks" are royalty based. Your opinion on the name KT Speedruns? I used to be JDDD. Then it was KTJDDD when I joined a dance game group who all used KT at the beginning. Then added a 1 when joining Speed Demos Archive forums to separate KT and JDDD. It was KT1JDDD. Changed that to Reiden Lightman. Because I thought it sounded cool. Nobody wanted to pronounce it the way I thought it should be pronounced. Then I was recognized as a starter for SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom speedrunning. They knew me by KT because it was shorter than KT1JDDD. So I just took up KT Speedruns.

Tough to say if you’re overthinking, I don’t know your content so I can’t tell if it fits. Overall, it’s not a bad username, it fits well with something that’s easy to remember, it’s unique as well. Tough to say though on if it fits you.

See using 3's depends on your scheme I think. Like mine with Diab3tic D3light has brought more attention than less because of Microsoft not allowing the word Diabetic in a username. Type 1 diabetic myself which makes it both relevant, a conversation piece and a little bit hilarious to hear people while I'm on discord in streams saying "Yo diabeetus passing middle." Obviously this isn't the norm as it most number for letters don't have a unique story or reason as to why they are there.
