“Don’t focus on growth,” this spoke to me because I already do this with the other things I do. While I’m considering on starting a KZbin channel and maybe streaming, currently I write fanfiction. I’ve seen so many people stress about the numbers, and how to get noticed, instead of trying to improve their writing. They want the large followings other people have in the blink of an eye without doing the work to achieve it. You’re right. If you work at something, eventually you will see your efforts paying off. I’ve seen it with fanfiction so I would think it’s the same on KZbin and twitch.

I love it when you tell me I’ve been doing the right thing all along! My growth has been slow, but it’s completely organic, and I barely watch the numbers. My only goal, since day 1, has been to improve ONE THING after every stream. Also, I always watch my VOD, it’s the best way to see what needs improving. Some streamers refuse to watch their own videos...I don’t understand that at all!! Thanks for all your videos, I watch you while I’m having lunch!

@fuzzoro
@fuzzoro 3 жыл бұрын
@@darkman699 WoW is an "old" game with entrenched players that typically already know the content of the game and already have their "favorite" streamers to watch for that content. Watchers of WoW streams are more than likely players of Wow and would rather be playing than watching a rehash of content they already completed or would rather complete themself. If there is a WoW streamer with a ton of viewers then the viewers are probably there for the streamer and not to watch them play. That's not to say you won't get viewers playing it, but it's highly unlikely that you will get many if any.

@OrangeAceGaming

That would be cool to have, but I wouldn't call that a goal, personally. Alpha has talked about this before, but essentially, getting a certain amount of viewers is reliant on other people watching / following you. A goal is something that you need to have complete control of. Such as, "I'm going to upload one video each week." Idk if this is helpful at all or not, but this is a big takeaway I've kept close to my chest.

Adam Klase in honesty; pretty close to that. It’s my personality. We (my community) have a phrase coined called hashtag quality content. For bad or good something fun or funny or silly or surprising always happens every stream. Usually not in my favor. Add that in with a sarcastic goof and people find me entertaining. Ya not much a separation from everyone else but that’s what i’ve found. I’m an okay potato in fps games and decent in other games so people don’t come to see the best gameplay.

It's not sad or scary imo . It's the truth people like to get comfy so they dont try harder or push themselves enough. I'm guilty of that myself but I dont think it's scary since its something you choose. It's scary being delusional ,and realizing you are delusional it's a slap, as a maths teacher once said to me while we were chatting..

"stop focusing on growth" is the best lesson! I used to get really stressed seeing other streamers grow fast around me, but that made my streams quality go down. Because my stream were stressed... Now I play what I want, how I want and have so much more fun. And slowly growing 🥳

This is super important advice actually. I started watching people I am not a fan of, and it helped me understand some things to do to grow. Also finding my place was huge, and with watching my older videos and streams. Settling into a role I enjoy and focusing on wargaming (while doing other things with my group as well) has gotten us a steady and growing audience.

Keep showing up. It's that simple. I got my first paid sponsor after 1.5 years of sharing and community building. It's not rocket science, but you need to put in the work.

@Balakeh as mentioned in this video, the hardest part is starting, then the hardest part is continuing. If someone makes 6 youtube videos and stops, then wonders why it's not working, it's because they're not continuing to show up, continuing to experiment, and continuing to improve. I see this all the time. Answering all your questions in a post is not realistic. And frankly, the 'science' will be different for everyone. If you don't put in the work to consistently show up, then people won't find you, you won't improve, and you won't grow. I merely shared one concept that I believe is one of the largest factors stopping people from succeeding.

@@WhyInfluence Devin Nash did a video on this. If you're saying "just grind it out", no, that's not going to work. If you're that same guy that makes 6 videos, of you breathing heavy on the mike, playing a severely over-saturated game, while being avg in skill, then "showing up" isn't going to do anything. You'll just keep doing the same mistake you did for your first 6 videos, if you make 52 videos. You will have just wasted time. Re-evaluate, figure out if you're filling in a niche, or if you stand out. 99.9% of streamers can barely get over 5 active viewers. The common thing is that they're all playing over-saturated games, at mediocre skill, while breathing heavy on the mic. Like Harris said "They're doing the exact same thing, they were doing 6 years ago".
@WhyInfluence

@@bronichiwa984 I agree. Showing up isn't everything, it's one concept. You need to experiment. If you do something for a while and don't see results, make a pivot. You need to keep showing up regardless, but yes, don't keep showing up doing the exact same thing, unless that exact same thing is working, and even then, you should always experiment. Thanks for adding to this. You NEED to constantly experiment and self develop.

Consistency for most really does seem to make a difference. Started 2019 and I have a viewership of around 30 ppl a stream and thats usually just chatting. Discord is to blame as well for community building and having a decent number of ppl in my streams. I just really do need to stop having this paralysis when regarding other platforms.. I've still not started a Twitter, IG, or KZbin channel yet. Wonder where I'd be if I had.

Imma be honest with you, might be dangerous here at KZbin land... But I am a content Creator and I love it however, I'm homeless atm and needed to step away from it. Now I'm working 13 hour graveyard shifts at a homeless shelter, and considering another full time job. I'm doing that for two reasons, to get a place for me and my family #1 of course. However I'm also working so hard, so I can get back to doing what I love, streaming and making videos... The advice you give, really helps with perspective and motivation. You're like a coach, always reminding me. "I can do it... but it won't be easy. Work hard, and improve." Genuinely... Thank you.
