I realize this is an older video - but thankfully you posted it! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate this information. I was about to drill my cap out until I saw your video. I ordered a set of pics and a new locking gas cap from AMAZON - which cost me a total of about $40. After watching your video, it took me about 5 minutes to pick the lock and I was able to save the cap In case I find the key. Thank you soooooooo much!

Thanks for the info. Had a customer drop a gas tank off to paint . He brought it full of gas and obviously the locking cap on it. Took me 15 seconds to get the cap off with your help.

Worked perfectly! After getting the cylinder to start turning, I had placed the key back in. Using a thin enough flat-tip screwdriver placed next to the key slot, I used a pair of pliers to work them back and forth. Finally, I saw the cap rise. I almost had to pry it open. What was holding it from turning and opening was all the corrosion between the cap and the tank. Thank you SO much for sharing your experience!
@peppermaster11893 жыл бұрын
You are somewhat correct about the tension tool. It is used to simulate the torque of the key, but more important. It is used to keep tension on the pins inside the cylinder. When you are picking the lock. Tension is needed to help keep the position of the pins when you find the shear line. This allows the pin to hold its position while you move on to the other pins and get them to the shearing line. If you didn’t have tension on the cylinder you would pick the pins and the would be pushed back into the lock position every time you tried to get them to the shearing line. So you would be pushing them up past the shearing line and the springs would push them back down. So having tension on the cylinder catches the pins as soon as they try to move past the shearing line. And holds them there till all the pins have been caught.

Thanks. I've sold a bike, handed over all the keys, kept the topbox to use on the next bike... and now realembered that the topbox key was coded to the bike key - DOH!!! Damn and now I'm going to be paranoid when leaving my bike somewhere. But this is good to know in case I lock my keys in the saddle bags
@BerryTheBnnuy5 жыл бұрын
Don't be paranoid, just keep in mind that all a lock is ever for us to stop causal thieves and slow down professional theives. This is always true, regardless of the lock. My advice is to always park in the open, and never hide your bike. Thieves love it when you make it easy for them to steal your bike without being seen. Remember. Thieves know how to find places a bike can be hidden. If the bike is hidden, so is the thief when he's stealing the bike. So always park in the open where many people and hopefully cameras can see the bike. If you use an external lock of any sort, like bike lock chains or cables, make sure it doesn't rest on the ground or they can smash it open easily.

Triumph has a chip embedded in the key, so if you pick the lock the bike won’t start without the key. I guess you would say that is level two, the rest of the bike I can see this working quite well.

Rob depends on the year of triumph I seen a dude stick his flathead behind the ignition it broke off on the bottom and vrooom
@BerryTheBnnuy5 жыл бұрын
That chip is just security theater to get you spending money on that bike instead of another. In reality, a professional thief can easily just shove a dolly under the front wheel if the steering is locked, and roll the bike into a van, pickup truck, v or trailer, and deal with any security you have on the bike in the luxury of their Faraday cage back at the shop chop shop. Always park in view of cameras if possible to deter theives because they don't want to be identified or witnessed

Don't waste you're money, anybody who wants your bike bad enough to pick locks can pick that lock too. Also locking the front wheel just means they shove a dolly under the wheel before loading it into their van, truck, or trailer. Pro thieves only ever ride away in the bike is you make it super easy, like leaving the keys in the ignition

quick question. I am trying to pick a 2002 Honda RC51 for a friend that lost a key. I have gotten it twice (on the new set of ignition components he bought (but I would rather pick the lock on the bike and take the key code to a locksmith). The thing is I battled this lock for a long time, then I got it twice when I flipped the pick around and treated it like a dual sided wafer lock. I still am struggling tho-- is there a chance it is double sided? Can you pick a wafer lock from both sides?

Noting in your comments immediately below your video that the picks are no longer available would be helpful for many I would assume. I spent a small amount of time searching for a comment that confirmed the picks are no longer available through Amazon. Perhaps you could provide the manufacturer's name of the quality picks you recommend.

@@jayk5825 well he's only using two basic tools, but you can find a basic set on Amazon for around $10 to $20 or go to wish.com or order them from budk.com mostly the name is under secure pro it's a spring steel and includes the double ball pick he is using in the video. Most of the information he is saying in the video is correct you could have also used a set of auto jiggler keys to both open the locks and likewise start the bike, auto jiggler keys are commonly called try out keys. They require no real skill to use and anyone can use them and open a door in a few minutes. Also sold on Amazon with an average cost of $10 but can be found on wish.com for $3 at the lowest.

If you happen to be in possession of those tools and intend to use, or allow them to be used, to commit a burglary or trespass, Florida has a special statute called Possession of burglary tools found under 810.06 in statutes. No, the photos off license plate and person if you can, but do so in a way they went notice, and call the police. If they are the owner, the police will be able to tell from registration and the ID of the person.
@gordonruthpanther12594 жыл бұрын
Ha ha. But in seriousness - if I see someone picking a lock on a bike (or car) or moving it, alarm blaring, etc., or otherwise acting suspiciously, I'd go and speak to them. If they're genuine, they won't take offence (would you, in that situation - if someone showed they were looking out for your bike?) - it's easy enough to tell from a short conversation whether someone in that situation is genuine or not. Low lives scumbags will quickly leave the scene. If I thought there was some risk to me (that they are thieving scumbags and might come at me), I'd speak from a bit of a distance. If I then thought it suspicious I'd begin shouting for help if need be, drawing attention to us (and be ready to move away if need be - crime stopped). Taking video footage or photos and calling the police ("crime in progress") and other details could be a go-er in some situations or for more vulnerable people too, etc. And although laws on citizen's arrest vary from country to country, in the UK, if there's a serious crime in progress (or reasonable on the evidence to believe that to be the case), that's an option too. Have some fun - and chat to the ladies afterwards # ;) [sadly, when I've interceded with car botherers, the offenders have always cleared out]. It's all so obvious to say out loud - but it does surprise me how few people would, do or have got stuck into any 'situation' in any capacity. I've seen staged bike thefts done by bike mags - 'stealing' bikes, alarm blaring, from city centres. In the photos you see people of all ages, and some in groups, gawping from a distance... nobody goes up and challenges, or asks. Ok, two burly guys doing it - but so what? Are they going to chase someone round the city centre mid-bike-jack? I don't think so! One person took down the van's plate (it would be fake - so pointless); another phoned the police (great, but they'll be long gone). A hundred people or more sat and watched like zombies and did **** all. Amazing. Makes me wonder whether most folk have got anything between their ears or their legs. Whereas if one person takes ownership, we can save someone a very long, painful and frustrating few weeks. We should all always be keeping our eyes open and, when we see something, we should do something - what that is depends on the person, the case, the location. But we shouldn't be like those 100+ people who all do precisely nothing. Cos next time, it could be their (my, your) property getting jacked by some worthless blight on society!

If you mean central slot keys, yes they are also easily picked. GIVI locks also use those. If you mean transponder keys, those only protect the ignition.
