Yes. I tend to create videos in themes. If you search for “Regie Collects” plus clean press, printer defects, pressable defects you should find a ton of videos. You also want to avoid using the term restored. 🤣😂 Restored me something entirely different. Improved, removed, addresses could be better words to use. 😆 Let me know if you have questions.

Just a little note, the underwrap that you sited will almost always appear on comics, the reason for this is due to the printing process itself. Comics are printed on large sheets, cut to size, stacked, folded and stapled. Try this experiment, take 9 (8 will give you 16 leaves or 32 pages, make one a different color for the cover) pieces of paper and stack them, then fold them in half (stapling is optional). now examine them, you will notice that in every case the cover does not quite cover the pages. The only way that it would cover completely, is if the pages were stacked, folded, stapled and then cut. I believe the actual stapling could happen either before or after the fold depending on if the comic is going to be square bound or not. Square bound comics are no longer stapled btw, they are now made in the same way that paperback books are and simply glued together. If you ever find a wrapped comic that is square cut from one of the major publishers, DO NOT BUY IT, I would take the odds on that being trimmed to Vegas and win 99% of the time! Now corner bindery tears generally happen while the book is being folded, or possibly as they are stacked in boxes for shipping (all done initially by machine). In my opinion though regardless of the fact that it happens during the printing process it is still a defect and should affect the grade, for any grading company to simply ignore it because it happened during printing is absurd. Would they ignore an ink stain on the interior because something went wrong during the wash or would they ignore a grossly miswrapped cover, How about when staples are on the front or back cover and not along the spine? All of those examples happen during the printing process but are never ignored, in some cases they are considered major defects. So why should a minor defect like a tiny bindery tear be ignored. The simple answer is that it should not and is the very reason why in my 50 plus years of collecting comics I have NEVER seen a perfect 10 comic, there is always some defect. I believe that the grading companies give out tens simply so that there is no unattainable grade, Somewhere someone does have a 10 comic, that is absolutely perfect in every way, out of the hundreds of billions of comics printed over the years there has to be one, possibly even two. But I have never seen one, and of the graded comics I have seen that were a '10' (all 6 of them) I found minor defects in every one that should have made it a 9.9 at best. The explanation I received, was, oh that's on all of them so they don't count it. Ok, so it wasn't such a little note after all...but then you probably knew it wouldn't be.

Open it. Often times the poly can actually damage the comic. The value of a unopened/opened comic are basically the same. Cgc also will not grade a sealed book.

These days I just bite the bullet and get a cleaning and press before submitting anything to CGC these days. Could be a difference between a 9.6 and 9.8
@RegieCollects3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly sure that I follow this comment as you need to examine the book before a clean or press to determine if it’s even a 9.8 candidate based upon the pressible defects that are being observed. I too never grade without a press.
@shannonbuff5873 жыл бұрын
@@RegieCollects absolutely on older books. I really was talking about books less than 2 years old. It should be a 9.8 if handled correctly by the LCS but I am just cautious and spend the 10 bucks on the clean and press. I had a comic come back a 9.6 because of a fingerprint
@zooks8085 жыл бұрын
If you can use some gloves especially on black covers helps in the spreading of fingerprints. I've gotten a 9.6 book back with the only defect notes by cgc was a fingerprint on the back cover. 🤦♂️

Hi Regie. I noticed some cgc 9.8 graded books with miswraps. How does CGC take miswrapping into consideration when evaluating the grade? Do they downgrade only when its not a know printing defect on thjat particular issue ? Great video !
@RegieCollects5 жыл бұрын
I’m honestly not sure that a miswrap or miss-cut cover alone would result in a lower grade. I want to say my NM98 9.8 is slightly off. The reason for this is that miswraps are known production defects. Where the bad wrap could hurt the grade is if the interior pages are exposed an they brown (that third Spidey was like that) or if the excess cover paper folds up, etc. It might be a good question for me to ask CGC next time I speak with them.
@RegieCollects5 жыл бұрын
The other part is that miss wrapped covers can be less appealing this desirable. My X-men 101 is miss wrap and all I see is the white in that left side. 😜👎🏾

Yes, this is pretty typical especially when you consider business days, holidays, etc. They offer the fast track option but that’s extra money on top to speed things up. They are doing about 35 cons this year and that has an impact on any business. Fingers crossed for you.
