I think I might have mentioned before, big eucalyptus trees (gum) tend to unexpectedly drop very large, widow maker, branches in hot weather.

We had the experience of camping next to the river. They opened a flood gate and we had 20 minutes to pack up and leave. We went back two days later and our campsite no longer existed!

My first-time camping in a tent recently, I had the luck to to check the site out first. I wanted to book a campground nearest. I was totally clueless on how to book a site, especially with a tent. The site I thought I wanted was down a hill and I didn't understand when booking it (I booked it first) that when the reservation read: parking across the street, it meant that. I had to park across the street and lug everything to the site because there was no place to park. It looked like a nice site on the map and so I literally took a trip to the campground to check it out, and realized what it meant and changed it. The second time I camped, I didn't read the online map correctly again. I wanted a site near the bathrooms and showers, but had I paid close attention, I would have seen the streetlamp was literally right in front of the site. Since I wasn't able to check this site out beforehand, I had to camp with this big streetlamp blazing all Nite. I wanted to leave the screen door open for the breeze but couldn't because of the light. The third time I booked (and so far, I have camped three times recently and now have to wait till spring to do it again) ...it was in a state park, and I made the assumption that no state park had any sort of electric. I was booking a site and went back to check another site that was a few bucks more and realized that some sites had power hook up. So, I booked the one with the power. I guess it takes a while to get it.

Tent recommendation for 2 with a dog? 4-person preferred tent, several times a year campers.

Depends on how much room and height you prefer and what kind of camping you’re doing, but if you’re car camping driving right up to the site I’d probably go 6-8 person and enjoy a little extra space 😊🤙🏽

Trees are great if you are not directly under them. They drop all sorts of things. If it rains and then stops, the trees continue to rain down on you for hours or days. Don't set up under trees!

They can definitely drop all sorts of things that’s for sure! Just really have to be aware and watch out for those widow makers mostly. That’s some scary stuff. Depending on the tree and the situation you’re in to me anyway dictates how close I want to be to them. Sometimes you might not even have a choice but to have a tree hanging over your site. In a survival situation it’s a different game also, haha like if you have no tent, no shelter built, and it starts to pour rain when it’s 40 degrees outside, or is 106 degrees in the direct sun… you’re gonna be under a tree for sure. 😁🤙🏽
