Best video. I've used Sta Green Performance Max. It also has iron, humic acid & sea kelp. The lawn looks great.

Very educational video 👍🏽 I'm going with the Andersons 16-0-8, glad to see that one made your top 4 😃 I'll be trying a liquid for my micros this year

I really enjoy your channel and you are best source of information on KZbin about maintaining centipede. I tried to locate the Espoma or Fertilome in my area of Eastern N.C. but it wasn't available anywhere. I elected to order it shipped from WalMart. Hopefully, it will be delivered on time on May 1st. I also wanted to ask you when is the best time of year to de-thatch centipede. I spot de-thatched some areas last year with a de-thatching rake but that is very intensive labor and I will likely need to need to get my whole yard done at some point. I assume it's probably too late this year? Thanks.
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! Keep in mind I usually have a link to the product in the description of the video. As far as dethatching, I would probably just do a liquid product that is made with molasses. When applied the microbes eat it and eat the thatch. Since centipede is stolons/runners only, a dethatching rake or tool may cause some damage...I may do a vid on that for product options on the liquids. Thanks!
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
And timing would be when it is growing vigorously so May-June especially
@sidneywhitaker9972 Жыл бұрын
I would recommend core aeration as an alternative to the dethatching.

My centipede really likes the yard mastery stress blend 7-0-20 and carbon earth xgn 8-1-8. Also supplement GCF next green effect 7-0-0 liquid. It has a mixed in adjuvant so the plant uptake is through foliage.

Yes I have the 4-0-25 Stress X from Carbon Earth, it’s great stuff with SOP for the potash. Too bad it’s not in production anymore. I will do a vid on micros and iron soon. Thanks for the comment!

It’s MOP for the YM stress blend.

@@CentipedeCentralLawnCare I have been debating about weather or not to pick this up Country Club 16-0-8 Humic Max and MESA® by LebanonTurf SOP is the only K source and it has Humic Acid. Do you or anyone in your community have experience with this product?

I don’t have experience with it but it seems like a very good product and very similar to the 16-0-8 PGF by Anderson’s.

Our weather is fairly similar here. I plan on fertilizing about May 1. I would recommend last week of April-May 1st, anywhere in there.. that product should work very well!

Best centipede fert on the market right now is GrowOrr 17-0-17 soluble powder if your on a liquid program or the 13-0-13 granular they offer. Why is it the best? Because of the formulation ammonium sulfate as N and potassium nitrate as N&K why are these the best? Ammonium sulfate is acidic and helps to regulate soil pH to the more acidic side centipede likes pH 5-6. Potassium Nitrate is extremely low in Chlorides lower than SOP, which is still a great choice. Centipede hates chlorides fertilizer with MOP over time will slowly kill centipede and push it into decline… so there you go best fertilizers on the market for centipede and why 👍🏻

What are your thoughts on the super juice that Andersons sells? Ok for centipede?
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
Seems like a good product although expensive. It’s used more as a supplement to a regular fertilizer program. A lot of good things in it but it does have Phosphorus which centipede doesn’t like.
@davidaheck Жыл бұрын
Have you performed a soil test? I just received my results. I have low levels of N (1), P(15) and K(24). ( Despite using Scott’s Green Max 27,0,2 with Fe) The Fe level is perfect. Texas A&M recommends fertilizing with a 5,11,11 fertilizer to correct for the measured deficiencies. Is your lawn replete with Phosphorus so that you can successfully use a fertilizer with a phosphorus level of 0?
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare Жыл бұрын
Soil tests are mainly generalizations for plant growth but most don’t take into account the particular grass type. Centipede likes the low N and P. I don’t worry about fertilizing w P because Centipede doesn’t like it and it can tie up the iron. Whatever low needs of P it needs can usually be used in the existing soil when it needs it. Just be careful you don’t overfertilize with the 27-0-2 because that’s a lot of N if you are using the bag rate

Is there anything mentioned here that can be used on Bermuda grass as well ? My Bermuda needs milorganite or sunniland can I use any of this on centipede or any of your recommendations ? I have centipede in the front and Bermuda in the back so I’m trying to not buy so many different things
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
Yes all of those I mention can be used on Bermuda. Since you have Milorganite I would use it on the Bermuda. Centipede wouldn’t like the phosphorous in Milo. Bermuda will like just about anything. It loves Nitrogen especially. Thanks for the question.

I recently burned part of my yard (applied too early?) w/ a weed and feed. Bad idea lol. It is a bit yellow and some of the grass tips have red hue to them. My next feeding will be Procare Natural fertilizer 4-3-0. It's probably most similar to Milorganite. Would that help it get back to normal or should I wait longer before applying? Or should I hit it with some Ironite to get it to green back up?
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
I would probably let it naturally recover. Just mow and make sure it’s getting some water (about 1 inch a week). I would probably not do the ProCare because centipede doesn’t like phosphorus (P). Let it breathe for a couple of weeks then you could do some Ironite. Then for your next application (after about 6 weeks) make sure to do a phosphorus-free fertilizer. I can do a video on some good organic options. Thanks for watching

What are your thoughts on Lesco 20-0-3 with 0.03 Penoxsulam? I want to put it down at about .6 or .7 lbs of Nitrogen per 1000sqft
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like a good product although Ive never tried Penoxsulam so I don’t know how effective it is. As long as you keep your N at .6 or .7 that is fine for your first app. Just be sure to follow the label instructions .. thanks for watching!

I was searching for this fertilizer and seen it was discontinued. I just got my soil test back and seen my calcium and magnesium is low. Thinking about adding gypsum because my pH is in a good low spot (5.6). What's your thought on that?
@CentipedeCentralLawnCare2 жыл бұрын
That is a good PH for centipede. You could apply some gypsum for the calcium. The PH wouldn’t change much because it’s something that requires a lot of apps over time.
