I’ve used a couple different brokers but the only one I would recommend is Cartainer Ocean Line out of NJ.

I had a 16’ it’s in the thumbnail. I’ve seen people use small 6x12 uhaul trailers. I helped a guy load one. It’s tight but fits.

Thanks for the info! Picking up a Suzuki Carry in a few days from Newport News. Was the staff at the port associated with CBP, or just the Port of Virginia? I think I'll need to get a couple of forms stamped by CBP and wondering if I can knock it all out at the same time.

I wish I could answer that but I was so frazzled when I got there from getting lost and then they made my friends sit on the curb and not come in. I was just happy I got my truck at that point.

I have this same question regarding having CBP forms stamped. Is it needed for NC registration? Can it be done at the Marine Terminal? The Norfolk CBP office seems like it would be hard to get to with a trailer. Thanks for any help.

What fees did you owe at the port? Picking up in a few weeks and I owe my shipper nothing, what may I owe at the port?

I owed $100 and some change. I don’t recall what it was all for but I do know I had a couple days late fee. Make sure you call them so they can tell you the exact amount and get a money order.

I’m 6’1”. It’s a little tight but not too bad. From what I hear, the Subaru has the largest cab. I can’t confirm but that’s one of the reasons I chose the Sambar.

Can you take your dog? My car is at Newport News. Port saying they are still waiting for release from shipper. Shipper says they sent already. Frustrating as hell. Just have to keep checking. Staff just seem really rude and unhelpful.

I’m guessing they probably won’t allow dogs. They will inspect your vehicle at the main gate btw so don’t take any firearms or knives with you either
