Excellent! We pick similar items. I also add olives and fig jam. Wine instead of Champagne, for me. I have a picnic pack that I travel with. Knives & small boards & plastic cup. Always my 2nd night in Paris I head over to Tracadero around 8:30pm and wait for lights. The next day I go over to Jardin du Luxembourg for a picnic lunch with the leftovers. The markets are great but I find if you're in a pinch or hurry that Monoprix has a great selection too. Those cup holders are sooo bougee! 🤣 Thanks for the tip of staying away from that bread! 😊🥂❤️

You sound like a very season picnic traveler! I love it! Paris should definitely be enjoyed with as many picnics as you can squeeze in. I love your plan! I agree about Monoprix too, that happens when it becomes a picnic on the fly. Couldn't agree with you more about the cup holders. I just shake my head every time Doug brings them. ;P

Bonjour! Crazy, I lived in Florida in the 80s. :) Paris has a way of becoming part of you, so I am sure you do miss it. I'm happy we're able to remind you of it's charm I'm sure you experienced. Things are indeed feeling more normal around here, and we do occasionally still pinch ourselves to make sure it's not all a dream.

Bonjour au Canada. C’est froid dans Canada ce matin. That is far as I dare go with my very sparse French. I want to tell you Thank You so very much for this video. Merci beaucoup! My husband and I visited France in 2017 and we truly had an amazing trip. We were determined to enjoy this vacation as it was one of three vacations we experienced in our 47 years together but it became more than a vacation. Within hours of being in France and literally spending most of it on a train we both somehow just identified with French culture. We somehow felt as though we had only returned home from a long time away. It was a unique experience. Due to current world conditions we have not returned , yet. But we will. I so enjoyed your apartment tour and even more your very quintessential French picnic at Trocadero Place. Loved shopping and waiting in line and watching you arrange your charcuterie board as a “ feast for the eyes” and then enjoying it all, the day, the view, and especially some green grass and sunshine. Our Canada is very snowy, and icy right now. We have over a metre of snow and have spent the past 4 weekends shoveling snow over our heads to free our cars. sunshine and grass are what we are hungry for in mid February. We have had 3 days of above 0 temperatures and that is exciting. Your videos show a glimpse of Paris that we so enjoyed while in this country. Even the police sirens trigger memories of our days spent walking, so much walking, because we were intimidated by the metro and bus schedules for so many days. We finally dared to try again but only had 2 days left. Oh well. I have been working on improving my French comprehension and speaking so when we return we will enjoy it even more. ☺️🇨🇦

Bonjour Jean! I'm so happy you've found our channel and that it's brining you such fond memories of France. It really is a lovely country. We too are looking forward to sunshine and warmer temperatures, but you have us beat on those lower temperatures! Soon it will be cherry blossom season, and then all the blooms, and Paris comes alive after a sleepy winter hibernation. Thank you for your feedback, it means a lot! I hope you will be able to plan a Parisian adventure again soon. We've had a metro video mostly ready to share about how to use the metro, but then they just went and changed some of the ticket set up, so I'll have to do it again. Doug and I walked everywhere our first time in Paris too -- which is good for seeing everything, but exhausting on the feet. We were nervous about the metro too, but as you said, once you do it, it becomes much easier. Best of luck with your French too. It's still a work in progress for us as well. ;)

You two are SO precious!! Loved every bit of this - bring two bottles next time - use the rest of the chestnut bread for a doorstop LOL! The flags in the background were a lovely touch, we need this in our lives!

Were you used to picnicking in the State you come from? How different is it from your Parisian version apart from the food?
@LamourdeParisPhotographers2 жыл бұрын
Actually no! We never did picnics back home. It was more like a BBQ or crawfish boil :)

@@LamourdeParisPhotographers So, you don't do picnics in the States, do you? One would assume picnics are a worldwide custom and the simplest thing to organise anyway in the western world. Since you have been in Paris, have you had the opportunity to go dancing salsa, Zumba, etc by the river Seine during the summer months?
@LamourdeParisPhotographers2 жыл бұрын
@@michellemobakeng5938 thank you for your reply. Picnics are not much of a custom in south Louisiana where we are from. The weather is much hotter and culturally speaking, cooking out on a grill or boiling seafood is what we would do most of the time. The cuisine of France such as charcuterie, cheese and baguettes are more picnic friendly foods. That's not to say that no one in south Louisiana picnics. It's simply not as popular where we're from. We have gone swing dancing though down by the Seine :)

Thank You for sharing ❤ That was fun 🎉 Love the shops . Question? Can you do a video on French diet ? Seems like the French eat small portions, is that correct? Food seems important to them . Why do French drink a lot ? 🤷♀️ Why do French have a fetish with cheese? Hello from New York upstate 🌲
@LamourdeParisPhotographers Жыл бұрын
Hi Trish, all great questions and thanks for the video idea! What I will say is, there is this myth that portions are smaller over here and we heard that too on our first trip over here. But all in all it's really not true. Obviously if you're going to a really fine dining place then the portions will be smaller and the plating very artistic, but an average restaurant or café, I'd argue the portions are almost larger. If you go to an Italian cafe for example, you'll see the French order a pizza and it's equivalent to a medium in the US, and that pizza will be served to one person! My wife and I always split one and the waiter gives us this strange look :) As for drinking a lot, being from New Orleans I would say they really don't drink that much. They certainly enjoy wine with meals, but they don't consume the same quantity we do back home. The French can make one glass of wine last the same amount of time it takes my wife and I to have an entire bottle. As for the fetish with cheese, I can't say for certain but I would say it's been a part of their culture forever and they make some damn good ones, so why not :) Merci!
