You two make such a charming couple! It's nice to show different ways of enjoying Paris, and while restaurants can get expensive real quick, picnic is a very affordable way to spend quality time with your friends and enjoy food; you will see many people especialy students from Spring until Autumn on the Quais de Seine or Canal St-Martin. This is really a good tip for people with small budget but still want to do something typically french. For those who enjoy clichés, you can bring your own Vichy tablecloth (small intertwined checks, classicaly red&white) to add a level of frenchiness, if you plan to sit on the grass.

We took our granddaughter to Europe for a month! Loved the time spent. One country was France, stayed one block from Rue Cler, had view of the Eiffel Tower. Loved the stores on Rue Cler, easy to purchase goodies for picnics! Wonderful memories.

Definitely the Square du vert Galant, the Luxembourg and the Parc Monceau (with which I have an affinity, having grown up in the small village of Herstmonceux, Sussex, England), but have you been to the Square Barye, the small triangular garden at the eastern end of the Ile St Louis?
