This was really helpful, I have never heard these corrections and i have only practiced them 2 days / 10 times each side and I already have improvement. Thankyou so much for taking the time to make this tutorial, much appreciated!!

Comment from someone who has difficulty with pirouettes. Thank you to Charles Askegard for emphasizing the problem of over rotating the en dehors arm. I believe this is a key destabilizer for pirouettes, rarely corrected and often actually taught. When the force in an en dehors pirouette comes from the opposing upper back vs. the en dehors arm, suddenly pirouettes start becoming a whole lot easier. This technique can be seen in the many videos of Vaganova Academy exams.

I find that opening the lead arm at all can throw off many students. I think you do what works in this case and nothing is set as an absolute progression. Sometimes leading forward with the lead arm is helpful as well. Great explanation and enjoyed this video! Thank you.

That was SO helpful, Thank You! I realize my leading arm is going too far back before and during my pirouette! So will concentrate on not pushing my arm so far back. Also, may have been doing too deep a plie beforehand. Wow, thanks for this info, again! :)
