@@trifitguy ohh yeah, if it were my job obviously I'd have the time.. but I'm almost certain I wouldn't have the discipline and mental fortitude to do the same thing over and over day for years to get to there level.. I love being active but I am also self aware enough to know I'm not pro athelete material lol

The warm up is my entire session, too. But it's a great learning to do the technical work close to the fatigue. I would have thought it the other way round.

This was a great video! I swim with a masters team, so I don’t have to write workouts too much anymore, and the days I swim are one long day, one middle distance/stroke day, and one fast day. My favorite is the long day, and when swimming on my own the go to set is 1x100, 2x200, 3x300, 4x400, preferably in a 50m pool, but in the US the 50m pools are usually only setup that way in the summer.

Hi TCB, thanks for sharing another great video. My favourite sprints session is 8 x 4x50m max pace. 1 min rest at the end of every 4x50 then start again. I find it really keeps me sharp. Good luck with the training!

Thanks for the swimming tips. My favorite session is the longest of the week; starts with a warm up 400-500, then a pyramid ascending-descending 50-100-200-400-800-400-200-50, pushing hard and fast on the 50-100-200, and then cooling off with a strong technique session 600-800. Totalizing a 3.4-4K exhausting swimming day.
@joemoya97432 жыл бұрын
I adapt each session to recovery level. I will frequently adjust (up or down) from the intended distance and/or intensity relative to how recovered I feel and what my quantitative numbers indicate. I use 2 ways to help determine my recovery level (beside "feel"): 1) My sleep and recovery numbers (i.e., HRV, Body Temp, various sleep benchmarks, etc.) provided by my Oura Ring. 2) Plus, a Lactate sample (vs. my historical sample numbers) taken before I swim. This has been very useful and effective way to make "micro" modifications to my cycle training schedules.

hi lucy, for your 70.3 blocks i have found this set to be a good marker of where i / you are at fitness-wise: 3x rounds 400/300/200/100 on the 400 - go out for the 200 in 70.3 speed - stop at wall and get time; cruise remainder on the 300 - go out 2-3" faster for the 150; stop at wall and get time; cruise remainder on the 200 - go out 2-3" faster for the 100; stop at wall and get time; cruise remainder on the 100 - go out 2-3" faster for the 50; stop at wall and get time; cruise remainder 15-20" rest after each rep; 1' rest after each round. Trick is maintain consistency across all 3 rounds

I just started using flippers and hand paddles. Flippers seem to help me with my timing of arm strokes to leg kicks. Do you sense the same thing? I put the paddles and flippers on for my last 400m of my swim when I am fatigued. [BTW: I swim way less time & distance than you and even if I had a motor boat I would never match your distance :) ]. Good luck next season.

good luck on your first race ! you breathe out mainly through your nose while swimming, which the nose clip prevents

Not much a fan of pros telling us their training schedule. It isn't realistic for those who are have to work for a living. If you want to relate to the people, talk about training sessions that an everyday person, who works a minimal time of 8 hours a day can relate too. This 30 hours per week of swimming alone is not relative at all...considering there are 2 other disciplines to train for as well...
