Thank you so much, I’m planning my first seminar/ pop up shop. Not sure where my audience is coming from. However, im sure that I want my audience to walk away feeling empowered, motivated and have tangible resources to start business. I expect the bear minimum as this is a learning experience.

My question is where are yall getting these forgiving runways! Nearly all my clients need events planned within 4-6 weeks
@Ashlee_Tate5 ай бұрын
It’s tough when you’re creating events for other people. They have their own timelines. When you’re planning your own event though you have full control! Good luck though and encourage those clients to start early the following year!

I definitely don't think of 150 people as a small event. When I hear start small to learn at your first event I'm thinking you mean like 20 people.
@Ashlee_Tate5 ай бұрын
You’re so right! Lol. It completely depends on your ultimate goal as to what you consider small especially if you are fundraising.
@Mystefier5 ай бұрын
@@Ashlee_Tate That makes sense. 150 would be amazing. But I guess you also did say take a whole year to prepare and I've been giving myself like between a couple months and a couple weeks. But also I use smaller events as a way to attract talent for larger events like a Karaoke party to find singers and craft club to find artists. I don't know if that's smart. I'm still figuring it out.
@cinders3025 ай бұрын
Oh yes it is. It's very small, unless you're comparing it to a family gathering
@Mystefier5 ай бұрын
@@cinders302 It depends on what you count as an event. Maybe you're only counting expos and festivals, but how many of the events in the world are just a Christmas party out of someone's apartment. Remember we are talking about "first event" so not something made by a corporation, but one person with no experience planning their first party. Or how many kids growing up who have a birthday party get 150 people to show up? If you know a resource where someone with no experience what so ever and is the average person that decides they want to have a party can easily mention their party online with no cost saying, "Hey guys I'm having a party" and 150 show up without effort. If you know such a resource, please do share. Is that how many you got on your first event with no experience? The central library in Los Angeles, even their biggest event spaces can only hold 250 people. Many businesses like night clubs and coffee shops can't even hold 150 people. The world is so full of local gallery art showings and kids birthday parties and even friends getting together to do table top role playing games, if you took every event in the world and ordered them based on how many people show up I doubt if the median event size is anywhere near 150 people let alone if you only take into account first time events by solo event planners. Maybe you only go to big expos and festivals, but there are many many many other events going on in the world. I don't think we should be telling new event planners that they are a failure if they don't get 150 people on their first event ever and I even think it's really risky for someone with no experience to jump into something that size not fully knowing the legal issues that might be involved.
@Mystefier5 ай бұрын
@@cinders302 We're talking about the first event the person has ever done in their entire life. Do you only ever go to Festivals and Expos? There are a lot of Christmas parties at someone's apartment or Gallery events and birthday parties for kids or some band playing in a coffee shop. You think they typically get 150? If you know such a resource that the average person with absolutely no experience planning any event what so ever in their life (even a birthday party) and gets 150 people by just saying, "hey I'm throwing a party" please let me know what resource that is and able to get it on an advertising budget that the typically household can afford. Most event venues won't even allow 150. Most events aren't done in a Hotel conference room. Most are done out of a house or apartment. Is it very positive to tell a first time event organizer that they are a loser if they get less than 150 people to their event? Even burning man started with only 20 people. If it is really easy to get 150 people, with a beginners budget, then please share how.
