Have you tried block scheduling in your homeschool? What tips would you add?

We're just starting it and loving it. I work a 40 hour a week job plus homeschool and it's helping me to not be stressed and figure out what they need my help with and when. 😌

Nice planning! Hard to get out of the traditional school mindset when it comes to the idea of daily progress. It's unnaturally demanding!

Totally agree! It’s a challenge for sure!

Awesome video. Great idea blocking out subjects that are often on the back burner first

Thanks so much for these two videos. This school year has been so difficult, dealing with illnesses and grievance... I've felt so lost. I'm really hoping this will help me start the flow from one thing to the next.

could you do a video on morning time on group subjects please
@TheEclecticHomeschooler Жыл бұрын
Group subjects are just ones that can be done all together rather than on individual levels. Things like history, geography, Bible study, read alouds, art, etc. I have this video about our morning time from last year. ☺️ Morning Time LOOP SCHEDULE | Creating A Homeschool Loop Schedule kzbin.info/www/bejne/naO6fHqmgM2th9U

Very helpful as always thank you so much. Do you ever have to, or ever had to separate the kids so their school work will get & if so how did you do it? My 1st grader and preschooler just can't be in the same room for any amount of time.
@noemilambert14122 жыл бұрын
Try doing the preschooler first then first grader differently I had to do this at that age It’s okay 🫠you got this!!! I would entertain the other kid while I worked with one them switched. I did tv time learning shows at that time…. Or I did blanket time with toys and books 👍🏼

Yes, we do have to do that still! If I am working with one child, it is a big distraction for my other kids. We end up splitting up and my kids do their reading and math in separate rooms most of the time while I work with my youngest (1st grade). Then I kind of bounce around to my other kids and help as needed. When my kids were that little, we did most of of subjects together family style. The only things they did individually were math and language arts, which helped a ton! And we loved learning together! Having some quiet activities for my littles to do while I work with my oldest has always been a big help as well. I have some educational apps that they have done or playdoh or art, etc to keep hands and minds busy. Best wishes!

@@TheEclecticHomeschooler what apps?
@TheEclecticHomeschooler2 жыл бұрын
@@CB-wt6uv I think my faves have been Reading Eggs, we have a phonics app from Logic of English, the Monkey Preschool games are great for littles, apps from Duck Duck Moose are also good for that age.

I know it's off-topic but do you (or anyone in the comments) know of a really good, solid keyboarding program for kids? We've tried a couple and they just didn't work for us. Any help would be appreciated :-)

My son completed Typing 3 from TGATB some time ago and my daughter is working through it right now. Works very well for us. We do it more often than it is recommended, though, we do typing 4 times a week.
