I find it’s always tempting to do layers too quickly and this is a very useful reminder Anna so thank you for breaking the process down so clearly. A beautiful painting as usual too. ❤

Hello Anna, once again your video is most informative! How beautiful is your bird painting! ❤The colour palette that you shared is unique and so gorgeous! If I were more advanced with watercolour, I would love to join you on your Patreon. Having said that, I definitely enjoy watching your videos and find them so fascinating. Thank you Anna. Helene

Inspiring as always! I need the reminders about light layers and fully dry. Instead I tend to fuss and overwork. I am still trying to master your wet on wet technique where you don't wet the paper first. It creates magic:)

Beautiful work! You seem to use more pre-mixed paints (for example, all the different reds in your palette) rather than using fewer pigments but mixing them on the palette, is that usual for you? In a class I took the teacher recommended doing the opposite (use only 1 red in a single painting but mix with your 1 yellow etc to get the various shades), so it is very interesting to me to see how you put your colors together! Obviously it works very well for your technique because the results speak for themselves.

One thing not mentioned here is light source and shadow. If you are combining two or more reference images, it is almost guaranteed that the light source is not coming from the same direction on all of the images. This means you can't just follow the colours on the reference image as the shadowing will be wrong and/or non-existent. Some of the items in your picture would also throw shadows which you'll have to add in. You need to understand highlight and shadows if you're going to combine reference photos.
@AnnaBucciarelliКүн бұрын
Excellent point, thank you, and I do cover it extensively in the full version of this tutorial on Patreon, as well as my other videos on composition building when using different reference photos. In general, deciding on / noticing the direction of light and keeping it in mind throughout is key for proper shadow application and rendering 3 d form 👌😊

I love these videos. I find your Patreon a bit tricky as you don’t narrate the process or the colour you’re currently applying to the paper. I end up making poor choices and rush trying to keep up. Narrating your process would really help students like me who learn in an audible and visual process if that makes sense?
@AnnaBucciarelliКүн бұрын
Thank you! But I do narrate tutorials on PATREON, including ever color and stroke I apply! I only recently started posting some non-narrated demos, and those are just a bonus content on the lowest Tier. Tier 2 contains all narrated compositions in real time. Hope this clarifies things 😊
