I got these back when they were a one-time tool. I really like them. That little plastic reassembly tool is helpful. It wasn't part of the kit back then. I encourage you all to list it as a separate item you sell for folks with old kits, or who need a replacement or spare.

Can you guys add a 1/16” round over blade to the options? It would be great to leave at a preset depth and is small enough to leave a good finish without having to move the blade. I love the chamfer blade for this. I just pull out my ez-edge and zip zip zip, light chamfer on each edge. I would also consider closing the throat down to add more support in front of the blade. That would be nice when starting on a really short edge.

1/16 would be amazing. I'm thinking of getting the 1/8 and really backing off for easing cabinet door edges. Using a sponge on a sander now. At $1 each sponge, and the maple slices through that sponge in no time. I'd rather use this than a block plane for this function. Set it and forget it, one swipe and done. Would fly through a stack of doors.

I believe that a minor "wiggle" in an edge chamfer is desirable. I want my work to look like it was made by human hands, not in a factory by a perfect machine. Many times, I have sighted down the length of a molding on a 19th-century cabinet and felt a connection with the long-deceased cabinetmaker who cut that molding with a plane or a series of planes. It's never perfectly straight and I love that character.

Perfect timing, I just got mine! I was hoping in this video you would explain how adjust the blade for various depths and avoiding blowouts on mating corners.
@WoodpeckersLLC3 жыл бұрын
Mating corners: Do the end-grain first. Come in from both ends, if possible. Then your long-grain cuts should finish cleanly. Learning how much depth of cut to take comes with practice. Harder woods need lighter cuts, softer woods can take heavier cuts. A little less than half a rev on the wheel is a good general purpose starting point.

Question: would you recommend that Chamfer Tool to be used on anything other than wood? For example: I make charcuterie serving board and backfill the live-edge with resin/epoxy so some of these boards can have wood & epoxy which I normally use a router to create a profile on the edge however this tool could do the trick. Cant wait to hear back
@WoodpeckersLLC3 жыл бұрын
Should handle the epoxy with no problem. Might have to take very fine cuts to prevent chatter, but it will cut it fine.

Nice product! Can the cutters be sharpened? Also your benchtop is nice. Is it a laminate product? Thanks!
@WoodpeckersLLC3 жыл бұрын
Yes, the cutters can be sharpened. For the most part, you only need to hone the flat side. It doesn't hurt to use a profiled leather strop to hone the bevel, but don't try to grind the bevel.

Rank beginner here, forgive obvious question - with the Chamfer blade, I can control the depth to create just a very small chamfer - is that correct? The chamfer in the video is somewhat pronounced, I just want a tiny detail on the corner. If I had to guess, it would be a flat spot maybe less than 1/16.
@WoodpeckersLLC3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can. you can make it as small or as large as you want.

In your morty jig
@WoodpeckersLLC3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, no, for two reasons. 1) The radii on the Morty tenons are metric. and B) When a corner is cut completely away the EZ-Edge doesn't have anything to guide by.

you compared a bronze, perfect lie-nielsen, to your plane. I see. nice tool, but i would like to see more cutters to make the price easier to agree with.

I have lots of Woodpeckers products, but I'll pass on the EZ Edge. To me, this is a solution looking for a problem, and I have never had an issue using a block plane to chamfer an edge. I was taught decades ago to reference the angle of the plane body to the work by using my finger tips.
