Our RV is a bunk house with all available space being used up for needed storage for food and daily living supplies. With the rise in cost of rentals and such a lot of people have moved to full time RV living either in RV parks or some are going off grid with their RV's a portion of the year as well.

I have experimented with starting seeds indoors & outdoors. For me, I have found the most success with starting indoors. The squirrels and birds (and maybe other critters at night) always dig in my pots. Plus I enjoy babying my seeds/seedlings and it's cozier to do that indoors during the winter!

It is 70F with a high of 75F today in central Alabama. We had some hard freezes with temps dropping down to 22F. I was worried that I may have planted my peas too early, and that they didn't make it through the freeze. This morning I saw the first few sprouts, golden sweet peas. I started more peas indoors for transplants two days ago, so I am going to have a lot of peas. Three days ago, I took my salad mix lettuce, endive, and 5 color swiss chard our of the starter trays, divided them, and potted them up so they are all in a single cells. When they are a little larger, in a week or two, I will start transplanting them into the garden. I have three times what I need to fill my GreenStalk tower, so I will be doing a lot of companion planting with the left overs. The plants I don't have room for, will go in my mother's garden. Expanding my garden has inspired her to start a vegetable garden this year in addition to her flowers. I chitted red potatoes a few days ago. They have hardened off enough to plant today, and are next on my to do list.😀

I'm trying container fall peas this year. It's still in the upper 80's to 90° here but I'm trying it! Started shelling and snow peas in moist paper towels indoors and it only took 3 days for them to sprout. Just transferring to containers today and hopefully I will get a good harvest of fresh peas.

I planted the marvel peas from your collection and I may have ruined that planting. But I am trying the others from your collection as well. the Oregon and fiesty. Some are seeds growing inside but most are in smart pots, but they seem to dry out on me. I haven't had great success with smart pots. I think I need to moisten the soil better prior to planting. I germinated the peas with paper towels and planted them this past weekend in 5 gallon bags. It's still in the low 40s at night but high 60s-70s during the day so I'm not certain about beans. I'll be doing some experimenting.

Kali have you ever considered starting another business of selling outdoor plant containers that are ceramic by way of other artists? You could use them to house the grow bags that you sell. It would be so great to be able to use your grow bags and place them inside of a beautiful ceramic outdoor plant container, a bit larger as not to impede on the airflow around the grow bag.

Unfortunately, ceramic pots are an entirely different animal when it comes to shipping and storage space on my end, so I don't see that happening at this point in time. Greetings from New Zealand! I have what can best be described as a "pot friendly" garden. I currently grow Tomatoes, Capsicums, 4 types of chili peppers (Chili Fire, Jalapeño, and Hungarian Hot Wax x2, Radish, Coriander, Basil, and for the first time Fenugreek. It is now Spring here, so I guess it's time to get the beans in. I have a square tub 60cm wide x 45cm x 45cm depth. How many climbing Scarlet Runner Beans do you think I can get in there? I started growing some plants last Saturday, with some garden peas being one of them. It was almost the last to sprout, but now it's almost the tallest plant (10 days out), besides one (so far) corn plant that's growing as well. Should I be putting these plants in their individual pots now? I started wit 50 mm Jiffy pellets, with containers that fit them pretty decently, but the way some of these are growing is a little intimidating. Lol

Just wondering... is there a reason why you use a spoon to dig the sprouts out of the tray cells? I just push out the soil from the bottom of the cell and the soil pops out in one solid mass without disturbing/damaging the roots. I'm doing Romano beans for the first time this year!

My first thought is to apply targeted Nutrients (Carefully) Iron: If you suspect iron deficiency, consider using an iron chelate spray for a quick fix. Magnesium: Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate) can be dissolved in water and applied as a foliar spray or soil drench. Potassium: Use a balanced fertilizer with LOW NITROGEN but adequate potassium and phosphorus. Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers to prevent excessive leafy growth at the expense of fruiting. Also, inspect the roots- are they healthy and draining properly? Check these out, you know your plants best, trust your gut and go from there, Jan! Please let me know how it goes! CK
