Okay, I think you've convinced me. I painted the rims on my old TJ with rattlecan bedliner and was happy with it...Now I have a 16 JK and I think I'm gonna Plastidip this time. Eventually I'll buy black rims, but this will do for now. Thanks for the upload.

If you ever do this again, Use little white note cards and place them around the wheel between the tire. It eliminates the excess spray and the frustrating peeling process if theres not a good amount coated on it to peel off in one go around. If done right, it should look like a dog in a funnel cone to prevent the dog from licking itself. lol. I did it this way the first time. I did the note card the second day and finished all four tires literally half the time because i wasnt on my ass rubbing the tire to peel it off.

Also Ive found out if you waited 5 minutes in between sessions the bonding materials bond better than if you were to wait a half hour. Just my two cents. You did an awesome job and looks great. Just trying to share my opinion!

The amount of time you used to tape every lug nut could have been used to remove and reinstall the wheel. That would let you rotate the wheel so the can would not have to used upside down. But that is all relative to your skill set though. Looks black 👍

Maybe he doesn’t have a jack and tire iron handy. You’d be surprised how many people roll around without these basic fundamental tools for changing a tire, jumping a battery, etc… Plus I disagree, it’s less work to tape and wrap a bag. You can get in the vehicle and pull forward to turn the wheels right side up to come at a different angle.

Not too shabby man! For what it's worth it's highly recommended to use a can per wheel... I did a wrangler a few months back and used 5 full! Reason is it will peel in one piece and last longer! And the reason it didn't want to peel off the tire is because there wasn't enough product to peel! Message me if you need any advice but looks like you got the nice end result!

I always do 8 coats. You want a thick layer on top of the wheels to repel road particles. You’ll also want to redo it every three years or so and if the layer is too thin, it’ll be a real pain to take off.

Bailey Smith I've had it on for over a year and it still looks awesome. We got a ton of snow this year and I've been through a lot of mud and car washes (automated ones) and its not coming off! You really have to peel it off to get it to come off.

Jay Jaghla As long as you are not slamming the wrench into the rim you shouldn't need any touch up. I just treat them the same I way I would any rim not wanting to damage them but the plastidip is pretty durable. I'm about to put out another video and you will see my rims are still looking awesome about a year later.

Yes you can spray your lug nuts also when you spray the rim the only thing is the next time you rotate a tire or have to pull off a tire for any reason you'll have to respray your lug nuts being that removing them will most likely peel the plastidip from them...I know I didn't create the video just was going through the comments and saw no one answered your question 😉

I know its 9 months later , but alot of places have black lug nut sets you can buy that arent super expensive to replace the silver ones.... those should last without needing to repaint them for every tire rotation or change

+How to Wrangler The best technique is not to "tape" it off at all. When doing wheels don't worry about anything because the stuff that gets on the tires comes off really easily and it is the best way to get the best job around the literal rim of the rims. I want to do mine the same color as my jeep which is desert sand..I'm worried about the overspray on the tires. You can get away with black overspray on the black tires but a desert sand won't be as forgiving
