The Chicken was written by Pee Wee Ellis, but Jaco brought it to a wider audience: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chicken_(music)

I played this song for so long and have a listen to so many different versions. That was absolutely beautiful and very fluid!

Man, what a great player you are . I love it. And what a great lesson too. I already have some great new solo things on my mind . This is some of the best lessons in years for me. I 'm always trying to spice up the blues (things you can do over dominant 7 chords etc) . This lesson is great. Thank you and keep on going with these things. Mike

Hey Mike, let us know about your spices... think all of us are cooking that way! 😉 my spice: Eb melodic minor over D7! I know, nothing new, but always proper way... cheers from A, Guenther

I tried this tune a couple of times without success. Just yesterday I thought I’d commit to figuring it out and now this upload comes along. Thanks!

this is my approach to the harmony of this tune: Bb7 to Eb7 (Bb blues to Bb dorian) D7 (D altered scale, functional to G) G7 to C7 (G half-whole diminished scale, contains b9,#9 + chord tones of G7 and 3, 5, b7, b9, 9, b13 of C7)

I worked at a KFC for maybe a month back in 1997. I found out that one of part of the Colonel's secret recipe was marinating all of the chicken in a very strong solution of MSG and some spices. Not healthy stuff. Haven't eaten there since.

Why wouldn’t this one do well on KZbin? Bursting with info and cool things for us to learn
@Newnodrogbob
@Newnodrogbob 2 жыл бұрын
Well…I don’t know for sure but here are some guesses. The vast majority of people on KZbin are under 20. Guitar channel viewership skews older but still mostly doesn’t care about jazz. Lots of people don’t listen to long videos all the way through, especially when they’re technical in nature.

Why thinking of a 2 5 in major when the chord is a dom7? it should be a diminished for that actually?

This is not a Jaco tune! He did not write it, Pee Wee Ellis did. Originally recorded by James Brown, Pee Wee has covered it, Maceo has, etc.
