To really get a taste for the Phrygian mode your chords selection should start on the B minor. By not starting on the B it tends to sound like a major scale.

Great Video clip! Sorry for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Rozardner Inspiring Chord Reality (probably on Google)? It is a good one of a kind guide for how to play guitar scales without the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my BF after a lifetime of fighting got cool success with it.
@countvlad88454 жыл бұрын
@@jhoncanole2979 No I can't say I have heard of it. For me chords come from scales so if you play the right notes that emphasis the chord, a solo, regardless of the scale, will sound good.

I agree, nice video, but the chord progression she selected wasn't the best fit to demonstrate the purpose of showing off the "phrygian sound".

That's funny, none of the comments on Marty Music are saying how nice his smile is. The strumming during 5:55-6:05 is amazing. The little tap for percussion is a much better way than the full slap I'd been learning, I'll be doing it more that way in future.

Thank you! I love this comment, I think the true challenge is to keep going when somebody says no. Hey I am going the grades now from acoustic guitar and I am grade 4, June is the next exam for Grade 5, I think thats closer to Spanish guitar than classical, as the exam is about scales chords, rhythms, air traning, improvisation etc. Never stop playing/learning, I hope you have a beautiful day!

Phrygian, major and minor are 3 different keys but whithin one piece one can transpose from one into the other.
@StanAlter2 жыл бұрын
@@ErikVanGoch the minor Blues scale is the same way. It can be playing in a major or minor key. Even though there already is a major Blues scale.
@ErikVanGoch2 жыл бұрын
@@StanAlter I listened to your uploads. Interesting playing. 2 of the 3 songs you list as phrygian to my flamenco trained ears sound like minor. The 3th one (Phrygian Deluxe song) to my ears sounds phrygian but ends on a different chord then the one I feel als the phrygian tonic chord. In flamenco that's rare but known from a style called granainas.
@StanAlter2 жыл бұрын
@@ErikVanGoch thanks. I try to play everything with a personal feel. I started out being self taught. It's only been roughly 5 years since I started learning scales and theory. I had to relearn guitar to play Bossa Nova and then flamenco. So I'm kind of late in learning. The KZbin videos were partly a way of documenting the progress.
