How To Play ACRID In Risk Of Rain Returns

Thanks so much for watching, and another thanks specifically to all of you who have been showing up in force for these videos, seeing the potential here and leaving all the kind and motivating comments encouraging me to keep this going. It's been nothing short of wonderful :)
To reiterate what I said at the end, we're absolutely not stopping RoR content, it's certainly going to be a mainstay of our platforms. I just wanted to get ahead of a potential issue and avoid getting locked into being a solely Risk of Rain channel, I've seen it happen to a few growing creators where they basically get forced into a niche and are only seen as whatever type of creator, when in reality they do a lot more really cool stuff, and I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. That being said please remember to comment your requests for future guides! I have all the characters now so they're all on the table! Next video is likely to be Merc since there were a good few requests, but if I get flooded with requests for a specific survivor I don't mind switching gears a bit to get you something for them.

I really enjoy using his dissolving ambush, unfortunately It's a little buggy, I accidentally shot it off the map on the final stage and it wouldn't come back off cooldown, until I entered the providence fight, when I then used it it warped me out of the room with no way to get back in

By the way, movement speed items are extremely important if you're gonna be running the default third ability. It doesn't have a set "distance" that can be covered by the slime, and it's simply dependent on how far you can get during its 2 second duration. More movement speed means covering more ground, which means making a bigger kill-zone with the slime trail.

Honestly alt2+3 is really fun! Both slow the enemies to a crawl and setting the bubble on top of the puddle SHREDS minor enemies (especially once you realize jumping on the bubble deals damage)

Hey here is a weird request, save Artificer for last, or at least way later, she right now is in a bad place and the development team is working on buffing her to be more in line with the other characters, so you may want to wait till that is over before you make a guide on it, but I would love to see miner next, as I am trying him out and loving to see how you play him, although I think secondary alt is a turd to get so good luck with that.

@@whispers8888 I'm personally a fan of her alt utility, which, despite not mentioning it at all in its description, does damage and stuns. I haven't played around much with her alt secondary and alt special, but so far I've found using stuns to land all four sweet spot flame chakrams then flamethrower the most effective way to play her. But she definitely is underpowered overall.

Hey! Love the guide, got my first monsoon clear on Acrid on the first loop a few days ago. I used Alt s1/2 for DOT and CC and normal s3 to get around + damage I use a method of jump + slash to stack the additive damage since its hard to stay still and not get hit, but I still have a lot of troubles with magma worms since they do way too much damage on contact with acrid (on normal s1/2 he could probs clear it more safely) Hope to see more guides!

I play alt1 and default everything else too, it just feels right. If you get a few backup mags with it too you're set for an easy dub as the best character

Drifter kinda easy mode ngl. Primary ability is "how can he slap" and it's bussin. Basically able to stunlock almost all enemies. It also generates scrap, a unique resource that drifter uses for other abilities. Scrap is spawned on the ground around the drifter when attacking, and must be picked up. Default Secondary is "yeet". You yeet 4 pieces of junk at enemies, and it costs you a small amount of scrap. Idk what the proc coefficient is on this thing, but it's insane. Will proc items like nobody's business. Alt Secondary is "Minecraft Steve cosplay". You create a C U B E which can be bonked around for a bit before breaking. It hurts enemies when bonked into them, as well as when it breaks. You can also surf on the cube by standing on top and hitting it. Default Utility is yoink. The opposite to yeet. You smack an enemy and if they're below 20%hp you yoink them and turn their corpse into a ton of scrap. Yes, you can yoink bosses, including providence! Alt Utility is "Garen cosplay". You spin to win. Default Special is "win the game". You spend most of your scrap to generate 4 random temporary items. Considering most stages seem to have between 4-8 chests on them total, this is a broken-ass ability, straight up. Alt Special is the recycler from ror2. You spend scrap to turn an item into another one. Not a bad special, but not half as good as the default.

Nearly forgot: unlock condition for drifter is to "recycle" 6 drones in one run. You recycle drones by throwing them into the scrapper that gives you an item in exchange for a drone. This is a pain in the ass to do normally, which is why I gotchu on this one: the equipment "drone repair kit" generates a special drone on use which can be recycled. If you clear a stage with a recycler, then you can just spend a few minutes using your equipment on cd and scrapping the special drone each time. After doing that 6 times, you'll unlock the drifter.

My first time using bubble I wasn't very impressed... until I realized that each tick it hits something can proc on hit items and the explosion scales nicely into late game and ended up getting a win!

Man, I can accept that merc is good (with all alt abilities, or just shift and m2) but acrid will be biggest sucker in the game. He's good before you get to flying enemies like swift, or my worst nemesis - archer bug

Ive been enjoying Acrid a lot though I think his alt abilities feel a bit underwhelming. The bubble is by far the worst, the damage and status effect type is the same as your sludge but worse. Putting bubbles atop your sludge from either ability does not stack in any way and the smaller DOT will get overwritten by sludge's, so you are only going to be doing this synergy for the explosion damage. God forbid you try to melee the targets, there is a high chance you will swat your bubble away from the enemies or worse of out of your reach from even you (I have lost many bubbles underground or high in the sky). It doesn't synergise like his default neuro toxin and requires you to babysit the enemies into the bubble to get the effect, when you could just hit them for a fast 220% damage and be on your way. The Alternative sludge has a sort of similar issue, but you end up losing a significant portion of damage and utility from his default. The puddle is tiny so enemies tend to just walk past it like it's nothing and I am not sure if dropping a significant portion of your damage is worth the slight bit of movement utility. Another point. If you hit shift by accident or decide to use it as it seems to be intended, you will now be down an ability and left to your other abilities, and lets hope you don't hit it by accident somewhere useless and then tp yourself miles away. Both these abilities could do with serious buffs, maybe giving him a leap like ror2 might be fun though Im not sure how that would work. His bubble just needs to lose the whole hit it to move thing and given more useful synergy, at the very least reduce the cooldown and increase the blast radius. His primary is as you said fun, not sure if it's worth fully investing into it as a main source of damage but it actually synergises quite nicely unlike the other abilities.

Always liked Acrid design wise, but the playstyle definitely is a weird fit. Probably will still play him though. When I'm not trying to wavedash across these behemoth sized maps.
