I feel the same. You should take a look at the song THE GLASS PRISON also from Dream theater. Is way more difficult

Respect to anyone who can play this. It’s the picking. Gotta get your alternate picking and string crossing DOWN. Sextuplets at 130bpm is tough. But Technical Difficulties is also faster at 135bpm.

Awesome Finally!, Thank you so much and a big round of applause to Chris for making a lesson of this solo. I've been trying to play this by ear for years but I can't seem to decipher the several "wankfest moments" by JP. Also there's no accurate "solo" tab anywhere on Ultimate Guitar and all tab sites. I did not know it's in C tuning. I play this on standard, so I'm shock when I saw the tuning at the beginning. Now All I need is to "Clean and correct" all the inaccurate parts I've made through the years.. Also I'd like to commend you for NOW including some tabs on the video. Keep it up Chris. Your the best "note for note" teacher on KZbin......how long did you learn this? I hope some day you will make a tutorial of the hardest and most insane solo by Dream Theater: -> BLIND FAITH UNISON..:)

Really big thank you man, I came across your videos a while back when I wanted to do a cover of Shepherd of Fire and your video was so clear on explaining everything I ended up learning it within a day and have watched your videos since on songs I want to learn. I've really been interested in learning Dream Theater songs and I watched this video as soon as I saw it pop up on my feed. If you ever consider doing another Dream Theater song, could you do Constant Motion? I trust you would be able to pull it off no doubt and would love to learn it. @panos6664 жыл бұрын
dude that was a-we-so-me! you can feel how intense this solo is, even for a player like you! big congrats, I am nowhere near this level yet! my point is that for someone who is at that level and wants to play solos like these, a note-to-note breakdown is probably a bit too much? I mean, a couple of friends of mine who play this thing, after years of playing at this high level (they are session musicians), thay can figure out these solos by ear, or they have a quick look at a tab or smth like that and they're there! immediately. it's impressive! I mean, besides a perfect solo, this is also a combination of really good exercises for both hands, so I guess the breakdown is worth it. It's just that I find it hard to believe that someone at a beginner or intermediate level tries to play this, even after having such a detailed analysis in his disposal, but anyway, thank you for doing this, it's entertaining just to watch the whole thing even if I can't play it! you are extremely talented man!

Those who don't have a 24 fret guitar, play it in standard tuning (instead of c standard). You'll be able to play and learn the entire solo. Although in a slightly different position.

Still trying to catch my breath after watching you playing this
@ryanjay135 жыл бұрын
hey buddy, thank you for putting this up,. However, on the F-G#-A# sweep it is actually 6 notes not 5. If you listen closely super slow it goes Fup-G#up-A#up-A#dn-G#dn-Fdn-Fup-G#up-A#up . This pattern makes the sweeping easier actually as you can smoothly rake the pick across the outside of the strings on the ends of the sweep pattern.
