Never wanting to clip rupture is wrong though. Cata introduced a mechanic that lets you clip your dots befor the last tick and then adds the last tick to your new dots. For example if you have a rupture up on the boss and the remaining time is 1.9 sec you can recast a 5 cp rupture with glpyh and get a 21.9 sec rupture up instead of the usual max 20 sec rupture because its saves the last tick and carries it over. Not cliping is overall a dmg loss since you lose uptime unless you frame perfectly recast your rupture the frame it runs out.

Yeah if you take that mechanic at face value sure man. Often times you can’t clip rupture when you use it at high CP value so 4 cp vs 4 cp or 5/5 or 3/3. The only time this is relevant is when using rupture at lower CP which is generally not advised unless you would otherwise lose uptime on rupture. We aren’t warlocks or other dot classes. Rupture damage is extremely minimal, and usually that energy or trying to perfectly snapshot a rupture change would just be better used to keep envenom uptime. There are very VERY limited circumstances you can line this up properly and net a bonus and that bonus would be very small.

So for generalized advice, it’s better to not mislead people who often times don’t understand very minuet discrepancies that really don’t offer a noticeable benefit to their performance, and as I am learning hyperfixating on stuff like this usually has the opposite of its intended effect with how people absorb the information.

i played assassin for years, moved to WW Monk in Dragon Flight and want to main Assassin in War With in to fill in a raid spot need for out guild. QUESTION. I am hitting the dummies regularly to understand Mythic DPS. Some of my parses are 650-750k, then on occasion i will hit 1.6M. i don't understand what key part of the rotation is causing the spike.. luck, Crits... no idea. Same in mythic dungeons, cruise along at 400k then BAM 1.6M with same (i think) key presses. Any ideas?

My only problem is after I apply all debuffs on the enemy and use cold blood, I end up having a bunch of energy and too many combo points, which I don’t want to waste on my rupture so I just end up using envenom. Is there a combo point waster that Assass rogues can use? (Btw, this only happens once or twice per raid boss and I still pump 26k dps, but was wanting to get the most out of my rotation

If rupture is falling off and I have 1 combo point. Is it better to pool energy and rupture for one when it falls off or mutilate for additional combo points then rupture assuming you don't loose uptime on rupture by doing this.

So there isn't a concrete answer for this yet. In general, a sim is preferring that you are always keeping rupture up so I would suggest doing what you can to keep it up as using 1-3 combo points for rupture should be enough

Vanish right before the adds come out, garrote and rupture Maloriak, generate 3-5 CP redirect that to a swill, rupture that, FOK till energy depleted, big daddy bomb, then FoK spam again

Your rupture isn’t up, your slice and dice also isn’t up, any trinkets/Procs on weapons aren’t up. Meaning none of those are benefitting from Vendetta/CB

You’re increasing your damage with other modifiers as well. So adding more modifiers that increase your damage effectively utilize the damage bonus from vendetta better.

Hey Bro, I previously popped all CDs with first Rupture binded to it. What do you think about this? Like: /cast Rupture /use 13 /use 14 /cast Berserking I obviously chose riddle over synapse springs and popped it right after synapse faded.

With Vendetta being a 36s uptime with the glyph, my preference is to use Synapse Springs on the opener, since you are ramping up and not at full dmg capacity just yet, so I prefer to use the higher Agi from Unsolvable Riddle after the opener, when I am already firing on all cylinders. I macro Synapse and Vendetta with my initial garrote, then by the time 10s is over, you have SnD and Rupture up and should be able to pop Unsolvable Riddle with Cold Blood into your first Envenom, all with Agi Pot, River of Death at max stacks, UR and Vendetta up for max dmg. Your Vanish > Garrote and the next Rupture (which may be 3+ CPs if you are lucky with procs) also benefit from the higher Agi of UR + Vendetta.

NOTE: if you have a lot of haste or are getting lust/heroism on pull, then I would go with Unsolvable Riddle first, since you will Cold Blood >Envenom in under 10s.
