Okay, on the heat grid, there are unfilled circles....what are they used for? Under what circumstances do you fill in those black circles in the heat phase?

They are like armor bubbles, if you take a heat sink hit you mark off the number of heat bubbles it would dissipate. I dont use them too much, i like to just subtract, line through the print number, then write the current amount of heat dissipated.

In terms of phases in a turn, when is heat dissipated? example: a ran, fired some weapons and calculated all the dmg, now its the heat phase I have 10heat sinks and have generated 24 heat. NOW, do i cut 10 heat for the sinks leaving me at LVL14 and have to make 1 PSR for shut down? or do i make all the ammo explode and engine rolls at LVL 24 and once all are passed then drop the heat? basically at what point are the rolls to be made in the heat phase. thx

I dunno if you've figured it out since you first posted this, but I'd do it like this: - Track heat from movement and attacks (before heat phase) - Subtract heat sinks from total heat gained - Figure out if you need to do any rolls for heat, and then do them I think this is the right way to do it because lore-wise the heat sinks are dissipating heat while the 'mech is gaining heat, but if the 'mech gains more heat than the heat sinks can dissipate, then it starts to affect the systems within the 'mech.

Think of it this way: Your heat sinks are filled up with heat first, then the remaining heat goes up the heat scale. Otherwise some weapons would be horrible no matter how many heat sinks you had.

I could be wrong because I'm new but the way I understand it is: The rolls are made during each consecutive heat phase. So if you have to make an ammo explosion check at the highest heat level for ammo explosions, 28, and you pass. Then you only drop down below 28 but not 23 heat points during the next turn's heat phase, which is another ammo explosion. You roll for the next lowest ammo explosion on the next turn's heat phase. Same for shutdowns. Only roll for the highest check during the same turn. You don't roll ammo explosion 28, then 23, then 19 in the same turn. Same for shutdowns.
