I have heard many players over the years, but Dave Simpson is one of the best I have seen in a long time.

Paul Kossoff is the guitarist who moves me most. Free are amongst my all-time favourite bands. You teach with such sensitivity Dave, and you have such a depth of knowledge and understanding of the artist, the underpinning theory as well as the use of equipment and so on. You bring things absolutely to life with your enthusiasm. You make complicated things easy to understand and that's the hallmark of a great teacher and communicator. I'm not blowing smoke up your rear-end, I'm just saying it like it is.

Great Koss vibrato Dave, lovely tone

That Kossoff vibrato is hard to pull off… sometimes he’d go a fret higher so there was less to bend up, also because he had such small hands he’d use his ring finger and press it with his middle finger for extra force. It’s a great example of how having to find a way around something results in something unique and special.

I think your teaching style very much echoes the way a typical self taught player thinks, well I recognise it anyway 😊 it feels very comfortable and accessible. Hope there’s more to come.

Very inspiring I just have to grab my own guitar and start playing the chord progression myself right away, it’s amazing, thanks for reminding us all what a guitar genius Kossoff was 👍👍👍👍👍

That was a great lesson, way over my head though 😕. I listened to Free’s version and was amazed by the piano 🎹 and organ parts. The song as a whole is fabulous. All of it fits together so perfectly. Thank you 🙏. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵💕

Koss and Rory are my heros. I love your lessons on both. This is my favorite track by Free. Koss played with so much emotion. He wasn't showy or technical but damn did he get the job done. So much story in those young fingers. RIP.

One of my favorite songs of Free. Koss is perhaps my biggest inspiration, and the main reason I play a Les Paul. Such selective and expressive note placement and an unrivaled vibrato.

Many thanks for the lesson Dave. I always wanted to play this one but was just too lazy to figure it out myself. Just learnt Width of a Circle by David Bowie which has some very tasty guitar solos. What a great guitar player Mick Ronson was.

Great lesson Dave ! I just love Koss' Marshall tone especially on tracks like this where his chord work sounds almost acoustic. Only saw him once when he came onstage with John Martyn to jam !! Try to find his solo album!!

How the hell are your views down to less than 10k on a lot of recent videos when you've 137k subscibers? Is KZbin trying to just obliterate actual worthwhile content? Cool video, by the way, love that Les Paul.

It's tough to nail his super fast and accurate vibrato technique isn't it? Especially on the bends. Their song - "Mourning Sad Morning" is a good one too. I wonder, is that one played with the guitar in an alternate tuning?
