I can't believe this channel has less than 50k subscribers with such good quality videos full of useful information without being too intimidating. Thanks for another great video guys

Hey guys, I may have a cool suggestion for you. I think it would be helpful (and cool) if you each played on a different keyboard sound. Like, whoever is playing bass and low register stays on a piano patch, and the other player switches to a Wurli or Rhodes, etc. And vice versa, depending on who is doing what. I think it would very informative to the listener to distinguish what each of you is playing!

I'd love you guys to do a deep dive on basslines, like this video but with sheet music examples . Any chance.? This video was great but i don't know how to bring it to my practice session. Love your content as always though.

Bass! (tm) But seriously: great episode guys, and good call leaving room to cover the bossa groove at the end, which is still so misunderstood.

Thanks for making me think harder about using two's. Good option. But one can't really play two's much in All The Things because the melody is so sparse. I like that later you filled it out more. I sometimes include 1,5,10 pattterns in this tune - yes in 4/4. I like the concept of this video, and I'd like it even more if the options for assorted instrumental contexts were more fully explained: How the bass lines work with solo piano vs piano & guitar vs two pianos, and so on. I often see budding pianists practising (on their own of course) with insufficient ability to play solo, but without a clue about how they might fit their ideas into a jazz combo. So they don't progress. They get stuck trying to do too much and losing the beat in the process. By the time a teacher gets called in, it can be too late.

20:20 That's...not how the melody to Chameleon goes. It's definitely on the downbeat when the Head Hunters play it. Is there a particular recording you're referencing?

I would pay a lot to hear a double piano rendition of Quiet Nights like that, and a crazy double hand Oscar Peterson style solo on it too.

piano_man Same here! But when I got it at the App Store, even though it talked about notation, the app itself appears to merely be a score reader. I’m a little confused.

youtube: here's a tutorial on how to play walking bass **just starts walking bass** me: HOW I must be stupid because even the dumbed down root and 5ths don't make sense to me. Does someone have sheet of just the most basic F or Bb groove I can drill into my head??
@jman128493 жыл бұрын
it's simple, just play either the root or fifth of the chord! for an F blues for example, if you're playing in a two-feel with two half notes per measure, just start simply. For example, notes of a two feel for the first 4 bars of an F blues [F7 / Bb7 / F7 / F7]: F C / Bb F / F C / F C/ Bb F /
@calebraysilcott94712 жыл бұрын
So let’s take part of F 12 bar | F7 | Bb7 | F7 | F7 | Bd7 | Bb7 | F7 | F7 | So F7 is the notes f, a, c, e flat. Bb7 is the notes b flat, d, f, a flat. So for each of those bars pick 2 notes for F chords mostly f notes or c notes and for Bb chords mostly Bb notes or F notes. Really you can pick from any of the notes in the chord but think of the closest note of the next chord will help to not be jumpy. Hope that helps!
